Does not matter on mail-in. That is why the big push for it. There will be masks required in November. Trumps will be all upset.

Parading around grocery and retail stores without a mask makes these people look like assholes.

Based on extensive observation, I have noticed the people who refuse to put on masks around here tend to look middle aged, overweight, vaguely dim witted, and give off the essence of Trump-loving deplorable.

Given that Trump and Fox told these dim wits that COVID was a Democratic hoax, and no worse than the common cold, my theory is that these deplorables think they are "stickin' it to the libs" by parading around sans mask

If the government can mandate a speed limit for my safety and the safety of others, they can mandate a mask as well. Obviously, this is way too deep a concept for a trumpanzee.

Following the CDC guidelines has been labelled as 'too liberal.'

No self-bloviating fan of the president is going to do anything that makes him look like he trusts what the government says.

That belief system places no faith at all in government, the CDC being part of it. To do what you are told to do by the government for the good of society goes against what they see as their freedom to do as they please.

It is sad that under such a system the people would all willingly comply, but only after the situation becomes so bad that many are dying, hospitals overwhelmed, etc, and government has to get very strict about ordering and enforcing recommended measures. And we know that if there was simply broad compliance in the first place that the pandemic never has to get to such a devastating level. Frustrating to see such anti-American selfishness.
 
There's this GC (General Contractor) I know who wants me to rewire a triplex apartment built somewhere between 1930 and 1950. It's full of lead, asbestos, black mold, dust, and other nastiness. I mark the walls and ceiling for cuts to open them up for wiring, his help--mostly the ex-convict and no habla sort cut it open and remove the plaster and drywall, then my guys wire. Yea, I'll be there the whole time more or less.

Somehow I should be worried about catching the flu? I don't think so...

Wrong. There are degrees of safety. You can be too safe. You can be completely unsafe. You can take some safety measures and ignore others. In the COVID 19 case, you could stay home. Or, you might go out and observe social distancing. Or, you might wear a mask, latex gloves, an eye shield, and spray yourself with a germicide occasionally. All different measures of safety based on your choice of how safe you want to be.
