I think you are confusing the other unrelated matters with the veteran fundraiser issue as the crux of that argument was that he did give it out but as part of the campaign not the foundation.
You won't be mislead if you find out how Public Operational Charities are structured. The lies never stop, noise. Its like water dripping on a stone.
Snopes covered it.. He ultimately did give many different veterans groups the money that was donated to the Trump Charity for that purpose.. but he didn't give a million out of his own pocket.. if I remember correctly.

I read that one of the settlements was over a hole in one prize at a charity golf tournament paid from his foundation to another charity so not sure about that one either. Usually those hole in one contests are covered by an insurance policy. Not sure if someone forgot to buy it or what.
Not being a defender of Don here so much as a realist and realistically some of these claims seem more like they were just sloppy as opposed to engaged in some great conspiracy to enrich themselves. The portrait is probably a problem. Not sure about the other claims.

Trump is dirt...and his interests does not run to charity except insofar as the adage, "Charity begins at home."
He is a dirt-bag who used a charitable foundation for his own benefit...something that enraged the right when they erroneously supposed the Clintons were doing it. But their hypocrisy allows them to do a 180 on this with their Dear Leader.

Charity is good publicity. It is why celebrities hand out buckets of money when they need some PR. What they spend, they get back in Q-score bumps.
