I think you misunderstood.
I’m not a far leftist, if that’s what you mean by “devils”. You don’t need to be to see what Trump is.
Was John McCain a leftist? He retracted his endorsement of Trump in the 2016 election partly because of Trump’s appalling behavior in the Central Park Five case. Nearly fifteen years after those black and latino kids were proved not guilty by conclusive DNA evidence (and the confession of the real rapist), Trump was still publicly claiming that they did it and should have been executed. Is that what Jesus would have done?
No thanks. I'd sooner love and trust one of your devils. Trump is a self-seeking p.o.s.
Johnny Mac clung to a political ideal which he was unable to realize was akin to trying to stay dry by holding tightly onto a deck chair on the sinking Titanic.
He wanted to preserve a lovely idea, a theory, which said that by compromising with the Left, that you could be a nice, principled guy and that by splitting the difference, that sometimes you'd give some and sometimes the other side would give some, but in the end you'd both contribute to making a moderate, harmonious society.
What he failed to realize is that his political ideal was continually moving further and further to the Left, and he believed he was holding his ground and that compromise was the only way to save America.
What McCain failed to see was that the entire paradigm, the ship itself, was sinking below the waves.
He was trying to maintain a happy balance as the Left was riding the ship to the bottom of the ocean.
Imagine you are making a cross country trip from California to New York in mid January and a house fly gets in your car and the fly remains in your car as you drive the 3,000 miles. It moves from the back seat where Mom has packed a bucket of fried chicken, to the front seat and then landing on your nose and enjoying the music along the way, day and night.
When you arrive in the Empire State it is not a balmy 70 degrees, it is 20 degrees with a wind chill factor of minus 5 degrees.
The fly can't take that kind of cold and would soon die, but while inside the warm car it can live it's life ignoring the larger reality. While he has stayed consistently within a certain defined area, the entire larger paradigm has shifted to become dangerous for his continued existence without his realization.
McCain couldn't understand that America is headed for the bottom of the ocean and his political stance was not only not helping to save America, it was diverting talent, energies and resources away from the ideas and activism of Trump, who was trying to save the ship from sinking and not just finding a nice comfy spot which was destined to leave us all at the bottom of the deep blue sea.
