Now we take comedians off TV…

His show lost $40,000,000.00 a year. He is VERY lucky to have lasted this long. The soon to be late Late Show cost $100 million a year to produce and Gutfield costs $10 ten million to produce. His not funny over the airway show is broadcast to almost every TV in the country. Gutfield's cable show is broadcast to just 51 million homes and has 40% higher ratings. If Cobert was actually a funny comedian than just an occasionally funny political activist his show might not be getting canceled.

It breaks down like this. Colbert only appealed to %50 the potential audience and had to share them with 2 other late night hosts. So his actual audience was 1/6th potential audience. It is telling that his defenders are the likes of Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren maybe they should offer to pay for his $40 million dollar a year loss out of their pockets .
He lasted longer than your boy Tucker, and Tucker made money, but lied.

He's of course not funny to Trump dimwits. His audience of normal people has steadily migrated to streaming services and that is the problem CBS is facing.
More than half the people voted for Trump. Pissing off more than 50% of the potential viewers is a dumb idea if you finance your show by selling advertising space. It takes a dimwit to flip off have their potential audience.

Colbert is the highest rated of the three late night hosts.
Nobody gets enough market share
to get enough ad revenues
to air quality programming anymore.

Both over the air TV
and cable
are on life support.

Soon it will be all streamimg, which I hate,
and one would need to subscribe to seven or eight services
to get any measure of decent television.

We're in the beginning of a cultural dark age,
and historically, they last a thousand years.

Have you seen the financials? No? Then it's bullshit. "highest rated talk show" means they can charge up the wazoo for commercial time. The show wasn't losing money - no way! I'm not going to read the rest of your shit-post.

Now we take comedians off television for making jokes about Trump.

Sad but true. CBS obviously bribed Trump in order to seal their merger deal.

Trump responded with typical childish glee at the announcement:

I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.

OK with me. Wallow in your ignorance.

BTW: Gutfield pulls in 3.16 million viewers a night and Colbert only pulls in 2.49 million

CBS Reportedly Lost $40 Million on Colbert’s

Sources inside CBS have suddenly become much more forthcoming about the sobering economics of late-night television in 2025—go figure— revealing that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has recently been running at an annual shortfall of $40 million.

If you really did have 20 years of education, you'd realize that Trump's favorability numbers are underwater. You'd also realize that 49.8% of the vote is not more than half.

Be honest, Ms. Fat Lame, just because you're a good meth cook and your customers call you "Doc" doesn't make you a doctor.

Highest rated nighttime TV talk show losing money? No, I don't think so! Totally political decision to get that Paraound/Skydance merger.
Johnny Carson's ratings were nearly five times higher than Fallon, Kimmel, and Colbert put together.

Even if the cancellation was politically motivated,
the reality is that TV doesn't earn anywhere near the revenues that it once did.

Wasn't Johnny Carson alone on the late night scene?

The MAGAts point out that Garfield AKA Gutfield's numbers are highest of the four, but they are too stupid to understand that he's the only RW late night show. The LW and moderates are divided among three shows. Total them up and they dominate Garfield's numbers.
