Now we take comedians off TV…

No. He had competing talk shows from time to time.
The Joey Bishop Show was one of them that I sometimes watched.
There, Regis Philbin was Art McMahon's counterpart.
A good point but Joey Bishop only ran for four years.

In the days before VCRs, much less DVRs and streaming, people had to pick and choose. They chose Johnny.

Cable changed everything. The good news was that it allowed more variety. The bad news was that it allowed more variety. People began to self-select and pigeonhole themselves. As JPP proves daily, some watch Fox News and only Fox News. Others may watch MSNBC and only MSNBC. I like to DVR and watch shows from those two and CNN to see their spins on different events.

TBH, I miss the days of Walter Cronkite and the Huntley Brinkley Report when they gave the news without a lot of commentary much less 50 minutes of people screaming at each other.

You do realize that comedians get taken off TV all the time right?

Shows are cancelled by networks ALL the time

Unless you can show us proof that this was done at the behest of the federal government you are full of shit
Tucker pissed off the management and Colbert pissed off the management and they both got fired. No surprises thee.

Yes. I agree that TV News used to be far more professional.
Entertainment-wise, the quality of over the air entertainment was better in most ways
but it was also restrained by excessive FCC restrictions.

The major part of the audience was on the coasts,
but the FCC had Middle American standards.

Johnny Carson's ratings were nearly five times higher than Fallon, Kimmel, and Colbert put together.

Even if the cancellation was politically motivated,
the reality is that TV doesn't earn anywhere near the revenues that it once did.
Too many competing methods of receiving entertainment. The big three aren't so big anymore.

You are assuming they can read. Why guess is their 7 year old grandsons are too busy watching Sponge Bob Squarepants to read it to them.
Indeed…my seven year old grandson was here yesterday watching Sponge Bob and he showed more acumen than these far left loons.

He was in the first grade last school year, reading at the third grade level, which surpasses most of these loons.

OK with me. Wallow in your ignorance.

Preferable to what you're wallowing in, stinky!
How much money is Gutfeld losing?

CBS Reportedly Lost $40 Million on Colbert’s

Sources inside CBS have suddenly become much more forthcoming about the sobering economics of late-night television in 2025—go figure— revealing that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has recently been running at an annual shortfall of $40 million.

Political hackery!

My grandson was here yesterday also. And he was watching Sponge Bob too. I made him go outside and practice trying to ride his unicycle for a while then we took him and his sister to see the Smurf movie.

So he is extremely successful then. Nice to know he has something to fall back since comedy didn't work out for him.
He's worth $75M. Gutfield is worth $28M.

The fact you are so concerned about two rich comedians is more evidence that 1) you smoke to much meth and 2) that you don't have 20 years of education.

I heard Gutfeld say that his potential viewership is much smaller that Colbert due to only being on cable, yet he had more viewers than Colbert.

I never watched Colbert but I suspect he was more interested in being political than being funny.

Now we take comedians off television for making jokes about Trump.

Comedians? This guy hasn’t been funny since he started huffing that libtard crack, the kind that fries your brain and torches your sense of humor first.

If they’d hired an actual comedian, maybe the show wouldn’t have bled 40 million a year. Even if he’d ditched his 20-million-dollar salary, they’d still be drowning in red ink.

I suppose you morons think tax dollars should’ve bailed out the show? It’s your go-to fix for every problem, right? No? Then what, fundraisers, telethons, begging the handful of viewers to mail in their pennies?

What’s CBS supposed to do for you idiots that somehow think it's censorship to take a failed show of the air? You now apparently think it's another made up right of yours, never cancel a show that a constantly shrinking number of libtard drones want to keep, regardless of how much money it loses.

Idiocracy is unfolding before our very eyes.

Yeah Fox is on 51 million TVs and CBS is potentially on almost every TV. Gutfield averages 3.16 million viewers and Colbert averages 2.49 million viewers.
