Riiigggghht! Because it was working so damn well wasn't it? Who cares if we had some of the highest infant mortality rates in the third world let alone the first or second! And so what if 50 million people had nothing but free emergency room care and then got dumped in the street when the emergency was controlled. If they didn't want to die in their hospital blues they should have had insurance. Yeah, that is a great system; that must be why so many industrialized nations have such a system--because it works so well! Why didn't we keep that?
