Obama: gay partners should have hospital access

????...it is.....a gay person can file a patient's advocacy document naming their same sex partner.....I have quite a few gay clients since I was previously a business partner with a gay couple for a number of years, and I have prepared several such documents for clients.....if a straight person living unmarried with someone of the opposite sex does not plan ahead and prepare such a document the statutory fall back is that next of kin serves as the advocate....that means parent or sibling....if they don't get along with the girlfriend she's as much out of luck as the gay partner......
Yes, but homosexuals are NEVER allowed to rectify the situation through marriage. NO HOSPITAL can keep a spouse out absent a court order. Homosexuals are never allowed to be spouses. The same applies to gay couples that live together for years and then one dies, absent a will, the other gay partner loses property that had then been spouses a lack of will would not have deprived them. The inequity is unforgivible, and people that support that inequity are not kind people.

Yes, but morals are not the sole possession of the religious. I don't need a god to tell me that stealing or murder are wrong. They are mala in se and need no supernatural being to make them so. The Code of Hammarabi made those things crimes without prevailing on god to make them so. The Code predates the bible by almost two thousand years. So laws don't need god to tell us what is right and wrong.

actually, no....the Code of Hammarabi dates from 1790 BC, Moses dates from 1483 BC......in addition, the Code of Hammarabi has no provisions in it punishing murder, other than payments of money for deaths caused inadvertently....

No, you're the one arguing they are not "normal" despite the fact that you have yet to present what is "normal". What fact is that?
Those "deviations" would thus be considered "normal", since the vast majority of the population practice them

Really, are you now? So what are the other deviations? And I thought "standard deviations" didn't apply to sexual practices. Which is it?

As for morality, once again, you fail to recognize that the bible is not the standard of morality for most of America, and is irrelevant to our government. I consider many elements of the bible immoral.

I told you the statistical basis for normal and it was clearly over your head.

Wrong again, oh factually challenged oe!

Simply pointing out that after 13 pages of posts, 180+ posts, and you have YET to explain this "burden" you've mentioned over and over ad nauseum.

Why is that?
Because, just like the deal with normal, I already did. We seem to be dealing with some rather low IQs, incapable of understanding plain English or simple statistics, and I prefer not to entertain them.

1. I'm not the person calling queers "normal". I am simply refuting lies by stating facts.
2. So what? Some heteros are immoral.
3. I am absolutely correct that homosexuality, being about 1%, is well past two standard deviations of sexual behavior, and is therefore abnormal behavior. It is also immoral behavior, since the Bible clearly states that homosexuality is an abomination.

1. You are just the one trying to keep gays as second class citizens, despite the fact that treating them like the rest of the citizenry has no adverse effect on you or the rest of society.

2. Morality based on universal concepts are fine. Morality based on one or a select few religions is unconstitutional.

3. Since hospital visitation is not based on normal or abnormal behavior for any other citizens, to do so for gays is bigotry.

Soc answered the other half of #3 quite well.
