Obamacare enrollment for 2018 reaches all time high

I guess that butthurt that others are covered by life-saving insurance is too much to bear. Hopefully this tidbit will soothe you: My husband and I are paying out-of-pocket for COBRA insurance; he retired last year. Our premiums are over $1000/month for something we've used twice (for routine checkups, one each) in the last year. So there you go -- our premiums are subsidizing a few others who aren't as fortunate as we are. And that's okay with us.

That's how it works, whether we taxpayers are chipping in for something that benefits all of us (fire and police protection, public schools, etc.) or your fellow co-workers are all chipping in via your paychecks so that everyone at your company has affordable coverage. You *do* have coverage, right? If you do, you can thank all your co-workers for helping you out.

yes and insurance companies do the exact same thing they moan about

cost spreading

that is the whole idea of insurance

taxes cost spread too

yet when the government does it its evil to these people because they have been brainwashed to think so.

But when a Corporation does it to make money its a great idea to them

the stupid is deep in the right wing ranks

"How many of that 80% get a subsidy funded by someone else in order for them to get something they should be providing themselves without others being forced to offset the costs? It's a lie to say they are providing their own insurance when the ONLY way many get it is because others are forced to pay for it on their sorry behalf."

why do you right wingers always expect others to educate you? time you grew a pair and acted like an adult and learned how to google.

If their house burns down, who is going to pay for it- everyone else who has insurance
If her car is wrecked, who pay the bill- everyone else who is insured
I guess others are being forced to offset her costs!

According to the latest reports, a record number of people in the U.S. have signed up for Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act (ACA) after it was announced that enrollments for the 2018 healthcare plan were open.

Regardless of the initial confusion among people who thought Obamacare was no longer functional, what with President Donald Trump planning to bury it at every opportunity that he gets, people are starting to register for ACA. The sudden spike in traffic to the site where one can register for Obamacare was noticed after Nov. 1.
According to the New York Daily News, close to 1 million visitors browsed the site on Nov.1, compared to 750,000 who visited the site on Nov. 1, 2016.

Not only that, more than 200,000 have already enrolled for the plan, which is double the number of people who signed up for it a year ago.

One of the reasons for such an unprecedented surge in the number of people signing up for Obamacare could be because its enrollments for the year 2018 close Dec 15. That gives people a narrow 40-day window to sign up for ACA, since enrollments are closed on Sundays and one also has to account for the Thanksgiving holidays.

Yep. Knowing that trump is trying to kill it, many are rushing to sign up before the shortened deadline.

trump screwed up. He'd better hope that Congress reinstates the cost sharing subsidies, because insurers are going to get hammered. This coming year, I'm opting for a silver plan instead of my bronze plan from this year. I'm bumping my HSA with the maximum amount this year (which is why bronze was necessary), and I'll take the nice tax credit for a silver plan next year.

Sorry donald....your best efforts will not keep me from being able to afford health insurance next year.

That's the problem with the 'I got mine' mentality. He gets his handed to him from an employer, (or his parents?) who takes the tax credit. Yet...he doesn't believe others in the individual market deserve availability to affordable health insurance.

Whose costs? I’m confused here...

yeap

and when churches help poor people it seems the right doesnt think it will RUIN those people getting help from the church

BUT OH IF THAT HELP COMES FROM GOVERNMENT

those needing help are EVIL and get ruined by the help

"It means the parents of those children that receive subsidies are just added to the list of leeches unwilling to do what they should be doing themselves."

this is one of the most clueless comments ever on the entire internet.

Cost sharing is the foundation of every type of insurance.....always has been, or it doesn't work.

until the evil bastards starting kicking off people who got sick and keeping only the people who never used thier care system.

Oh until they got sick

then they got kicked off

its the cost spreading insurance does to make money off of accounts
I know, I wanted to know whom he is addressing, Owl has insurance and she isn’t subsidized, like myself, and we both make too much money for subsidizes.

Yes...thanks to Obama, that's ancient history. Of course, the dead repeal bill tried to drag us back to the dark ages.

I believe it goes all the way back to CFM, who I have on ignore. katzgar didn't use the quote feature, so it got a little hard to follow

I was addressing florida’s Quote
I know. He was using sarcasm to address katzgar, who used quotation marks to quote CFM, as opposed to the quote button.

Whew...that was exhausting.

yeah they should be doing their own surgeries

They should be providing for their own kids with their own money instead of demanding someone else that actually does so do more for their kids than they're willing to do for them.
