There was a fact-check in this morning's paper on gas prices but you know connies will completely disavow the truth of it.
ROMNEY: "The proof of whether a strategy is working or not is what the price is that you're paying at the pump. If you're paying less than you paid a year or two ago, why, then, the strategy is working. But you're paying more. When the president took office, the price of gasoline here in Nassau County was about $1.86 a gallon. Now, it's $4 a gallon. The price of electricity is up. If the president's energy policies are working, you're going to see the cost of energy come down."
THE FACTS: Presidents have almost no effect on energy prices; most are set on financial exchanges around the world. When Obama took office, the world was in the grip of a financial crisis and crude prices - and gasoline prices along with them - had plummeted because world demand had collapsed. Crude oil prices have since risen even as U.S. oil production has soared in recent years because global demand is reaching new heights as the developing economies of Asia use more oil.
Other energy prices have fallen during Obama's term. Electricity prices, when adjusted for inflation, are down, and homeowners are finding it much cheaper to heat their homes with natural gas. That's because natural gas production has surged, reducing prices both for homeowners and for utilities that burn gas to generate electricity.

The market determines the price of fuel...anyone with a brain knows that. If the tighty righties would poke their heads out of the RW bubble they'd see daylight and understand these things but they're all locked in their basements listening to nothing but each others farts. They had their great white hope exposed last night...queen Ann was not amused....
Hilarious. When the Dems kick ass, blame it on the moderator. Yet the absolute worst moderator of the three was Lehrer, who lost all control from the start.
I was telling my buds via email that there's something cold and unfeeling about Ann, a perception that she (and Mitt) are above it all. What a pair, totally out of touch with the people Mitt wants to rule over.
Candy should not have corrected Mitt, but she was good at keeping control and other than having told Mitt the truth... she did a great job.
When Mitt could not bully her into letting him run amuck the Conservatives went crazy against her. The way Willard treated Candy should have had very negatives from women voters.

Sorry for the late post. My wife and I had post debate victory sex after the debate. 
I see that the conservative mutual admiration society is still going on.
It was a good debate last night. Much more spirited and entertaining. Only this time Obama clearly won the night.
Four areas where Obama Nailed Romney to the wall.
#1. Womens reproductive and economic rights.
#2. Taxes. He wiped Romney on the floor on taxes eloquently demonstrating how Romney's tax cuts and spending increases simply don't add up and how they advantage the upper classes when Romney took raising capital gains taxes off the board.
#3. Libya. Biggest beat down of the night. Did you see how pale Romney got when Barry nailed his ass about politicizing national security? Biggest score of the night for Obama. He looked strong, Romney looked inept.
#4. Immigration. Romney lost big time on immigration. Sure the angry white guy crowd will prefer Romney's response but with the important Latino and immigrant demographics he lost big. During the debate I kept my opinions to my self. My wife, the immigrant, was leaning strongly towards Romney. His response on immigration completely flipped my wife to the Obama camp. Considering immigration was a weakness Romney could and should have exploited that was a major win for Obama.
Best zinger of the night was when Barry told Mitt "No, your 401K is bigger than mine."
So all in all one of the best Presidential debates ever. It was spirited, informative, entertaining and both candidates performed well though Obama was clearly the winner last night.
It will be interesting to see if this reverses Mitts gains completely or by some or not at all or if Mitt gains futher momentum?
My guess is Mitt will lose some if not most of his gains, even if he maintains his only real gain from the first debate, Florida, it's not enough. If Obama regains momentum in Florida, then Mitts campaign is in serious, serious trouble. We'll have to wait about a week to see what the RCP averages indicate but Intrade is indicating that last night was a bad night for Romney.

Anybody remember that back when Bush announced that he was going to ease up on some of the restrictions on fuel refining, and off shore drilling? Anybody remember that? Almost immediately, gas prices DROPPED! Just the threat of us getting our own oil was enough to drop prices.
What drives gas prices?????? SUPPLY & DEMAND, !! If you need it and want it, we can sell it for more. If we have a product that is NOT needed or demand, then we drop the price. Thats a basic philosophy that has been the rule forever.
It was mentioned that gas prices were so much lower before Obama got into office because there was a great recession across the world, and demand was down so they dropped the price. HELLO???? Are we not in a world recession now? Shouldn't the gas prices be going down again?
And I hate hearing the argument that 'The president doesnt control gas prices'....while that IStrue to some extent, a President's policies DO help effect gas prices. If this country didnt need oil from the middle east, what would happen? Middle east oil prices would go down since demand would drop way down. If Obama signed into law the keystone pipeline production, the supply from the middle east would also drop due to less demand. Same goes for an ease on oil production here at home. Thsi country has enough oil under the ground for decades & decades. If we produced & supplied our own oil, we could do it for less money, and no longer be slaves to the middle east.
Our own oil production, the Keystone pipeline, both combined could produce more oil for us and drop our prices, ending our enslavement with the middle east. Guess what else that means. upwards of 20,000 new jobs,just from adding the keystone pipeline. It also means that bread, milk, eggs, everything that has gone up due to high gas prices, would start to drop. Companies that laid people off due to high gas prices may be able to hire more people back. If the average person has a 20 gallon fuel tank and the average gallon of gas is $4 a gallon, it now costs $80 to fill your tank, pretty simple. If gas dropped only by 25%, then the same $80 tank of gas would go down to $60 a tank. Thats $25 a week in people's pocket. Thats $100 a month in people's pocket. Now maybe they will shop more, go to the movies, etc, do all the things that spur the economy.
The economy is being dragged down in part due directly to gas prices, and if you do not see the connection, you simply are not looking. Time to open your eyes. The do-nothing President has seen gas prices double under his watch with no relief in sight. He gave Billions of dollars to companies to produce techonolgy, batteries, etc for electric cars. Those same companies are going bankrupt. One company that was awarded hundreds of millions of dollars by Obama just went belly up yesterday. I dont fault Obama for trying to push for more economic cars and better fuel averages for vehicles, but these steps are years away from helping us. And have you ever looked at the costs for these electric cars? They are outside of most people's budget, so the people that need the help at the pump cant afford to buy them.
There's no guarantee what will happen to gas prices under 4 years of Romney, but we see the results of gas prices under 4 years with Obama.

My favorite question of the night was when one of the independents pointed out what a disaster Bush was as a President and how Romney would differentiate himself from Bush. Talk about being between a rock and a hard spot. I thought Mitt did a fairly good job of differentiating himself from Bush and that Barry did ok in pointing out their similarities. I was a bit dissapointed in both responses because I thought it was a great question and I expected fire works in response but was dissapointed there.
That was my second fav. part.
They're both very angry authoritarians. Very angry.
I thought both were trying not to come off as disrespectful so they wouldn't give more ammo to their enemies.

????.....don't pretend you don't already know....
on the far right of the chart you will notice two obvious peaks.....the one farthest to the right is our current situation......the next to the left was the peak we reached during the Bush administration.......the peak coincides with Bush's announcement that he was removing all restrictions on domestic production......within 7 days the price of crude began to drop and it did so until January, 2009......this is the low point between these two peaks......that month, Obama announced he was reinstating the restrictions.......what can we observe about the effect of those two pronouncements and the cost of crude oil.....
I'm only going to say a little about this...the keystone oil pipeline will deliver oil to be exported. Surely you know this.

the question was who made the decision to deny expanded security......and no, he did not answer it......if your talking about "act of terror" the moderator did side with him initially, then admitted her error later......he never called it an act of terror......instead, he condemned attacks on religious beliefs that incite senseless violence.....

Though I agree with you that that's not probably going to happen it was a stupid post by Emo. No sane person thinks that the permitting process for a pipeline that would impact many individuals property rights is going to be subverted to score political points. I'd like some of what he's smoking.
