Right.... It's more likely a panic attack that they will not get the same money if they don't spend it this year.Well, I can only guess that your state is not using its allocated food stamp money, and is aware that there is a far greater percentage of people who qualify for them than are getting them. It's probably an outreach program of some sort.

That's not what the ads have to say. It pretty much is all, "wow, this is good stuff, go and apply!" kind of like a military ad.Telling poor people there is a way to feed their kids if they need it is bad?
Also, how many people are so retarded that they do not know that there is welfare available? And if they are that retarded could they work the knobs on the radio?Telling poor people there is a way to feed their kids if they need it is bad?
Actually run ads telling people to get welfare? Currently I am listening to an ad begging people to go on food stamps.

Please, advertising it like some sort of product? Get real. You don't freak out because you generally support such things. You gotta a problem with people who qualify getting food stamps?
Who knows why they're advertising it. California advertises for kids to sign up for state college financial aid all the time. I never freaked out about those commercials.
Yeah, it's tough to even remember what to call it.Well, welfare IS a rather new concept.... how else are they supposed to know it is there?

Why would anybody need to be reminded that these programs exist? And how much of the program money needs to be spent on such advertising rather than feeding people? Why is the D governor wasting our money on advertisement rather than feeding people with the Federally allocated funds? Doesn't he care about the people that can't eat because he wasted their money?

All we can do is speculate why the ads are run. I don't know. You don't know. There may be a valid reason for doing it.
And yes, people are generally aware that college financial aid and food stamps exist. But, its not always on their radar screen, and I don't mind the government advertising social services.
When I lived in Texas, the State Government never advertises its CHIPs healthcare services for children. It was almost like they were trying to keep it a secret. And as a result, far less people signed their kids up for CHIPs than were actually qualified. And if I remember correctly, Texas was one of the few states to not spend all their CHIPs money.
