Okay... Why would we...

As I said, just because advertisement works, doesn't mean the product is needed for everybody who can get it. Shoot, the ad specifically talks about how she 'could' provide on her own, but 'the help' makes it so it isn't so 'tight'.

So what's wrong with that? Do you have a problem with an old lady being able to use her food money for a pair orthopedic shoes? Or are you and SF the only ones who should be able to buy orthopedic shoes, which I'm starting to think you both wear. It's not the ad I would have written, but it wouldn't outrage me.

People are so jealous of us. You can see it when we post. It's just like when I was a little kid and if another little kid didn't like me, my mother always told me it was because I was "special" and they were just jealous of my cuteness and brightness.

I mean, the more things change, the more they stay the same, you know?

I have a problem providing 'fun money' for people who don't need the support. Yes, I do. BTW - If she needed Orthopedic shoes her health coverage would pay for them.

And I am not 'outraged' I am amazed at the waste of money and resources that are supposed to go to feeding the truly needy.

The whole idea of giving money away to people who don't need it repulses me. There is nothing more clearly wealth redistribution than an ad saying, "even if you don't need it we'll give you other people's money!"

Damo, nobody collecting food stamps is using them as "fun money".

The point Darla is this...

Do you honestly believe that anyone doesn't know welfare exists?

The answer is they would have to be complete idiots to not know welfare exists, therefore it is a complete waste of money to advertise its existence. That money would be better spent on those that need it rather than wasting it on advertising.

Yes. Exactly. Especially food stamps. Nobody with a modicum of memory to their name could honestly say that they didn't know food stamps exist.

I can see it with a new program that nobody knew about, but food stamps? Then to have the ad basically promote those who aren't in need to come apply?

Bottom line....

Ritter is a dumshiite

I'd like to see the transcript of the ad, rather than your recollection of it.

Second, if someone qualifies they should get it. I highly doubt the state is encouraging people who don't qualify, to "come on down" and get it.

Third, everybody knows the Army and National Guard exist. Do you have a problem with advertisements on TV and Radio for them?

Yet people who qualify for some of these programs do not enroll until an outreach program is instituted, so why is that? Maybe it's not that they "don't know' on some level, but rather that it never occurs to them that there are social programs that could help them specifically. Maybe "welfare" (social programs) is always something that "someone else" goes on, in many minds.

lol

I've been getting a lot of angry posts and threads about how I'm always posting stuff you agree with, and visa versa. What's that anger about? r

What the hell are you talking about?

This board cracks me up.

I think what he means is that there are people stupid enough to vote for bush not once, but twice, why is it so hard to believe there are people stupid enough not to know about certain social programs? I laughed.
