Once again, Trump is being handed a good and growing economy on a silver platter

Asking Trump voters to name anything that whore did while in the white house his last nightmare that made their lives better...other than riding the Obama economy, the bitches got nothing for ya

Well a lot of economist have come out and said IF Trump puts his tariffs in place it will crash our economy and very well could cause a deep recession / depression.
The morons on the right believe Trump when he says the exporting countries will pay the tariffs and all they will do is raise their prices and the American consumer will be the one paying them.
And those countries like Chins will put tariffs on our goods , like Tar sand oil that they use to make plastics and sell back to us.
And with 20, 30 40% or higher tariffs the prices on everything we buy will go up and up.
And when and IF he does put tariffs on the MAGA will try to blame somebody else and cry like babies .
Biden's inflation will look like pennies compared to Trumps tariffs.
Trump is just asking for a trade war we will lose.

Did you know that president tater head didn't reverse the Trump china tariffs? Probably the only good decision he made in a half century of politics. Or maybe he just forgot, his brain has turned to ice cream over the past 4 years. As far as the rest of them Trump wants to implement?

What are we looking at, Venezuela? Iran? Mexico? What else? What damage is this going to cause, especially if we increase energy production. Tariffs are like traffic tickets; they're meant to modify behavior.

The reason chinese crap is so cheap is because any services the government has to provide to the workers are minimal at best, and companies don't have to worry about DEI, gender issues, labor unions, and the rest of the crap we have to put up with here. They are among the biggest polluters on earth.

If something made in china is just as expensive as something made in the U.S. because of tariffs, why buy chinese? I suppose you can console yourself with the knowledge that you are putting a few scraps of food on the table of some chinese laborer, but the bulk of your purchase is buying fighter planes, aircraft carriers and rifles for a monstrous military fit only for expansion.

Modify your behavior. My iphone is 5 years old. I like it. When it falls apart, I'm getting a Samsung because at least it won't be made in china.

Biden kept the tariff in place because China made promises they didn’t keep.

Well, it didn't make the news to anywhere near the same degree when Biden left them in place as it did when trump enacted them.

Which I think stands to reason.

One could ascribe that to "lib'rul media bias" as a simple, knee-jerk reaction, or it could be explained in a less conspiratorial way which is, that enacting something (tariffs in this case) is a much more noteworthy event than leaving existing policy (tariffs again) in place.

I guess a half-assed comparison would be like when a band releases a new song, it gets a lot of attention from the media and fans. Four years later when they re-release a remastered version of it, it gets a little attention, but nowhere near as much.

I'm sure there are better illustrations than that, but I just can't think of any right now.

I think you're just overestimating the public's attention to details. Plus, it depends on what all else was in the news around that time, taking up all the air in the room. Trade policy is really kind of a picayune issue compared to all the other things making headlines and let's face it, trump gives the media more to report about and the public more to digest, than they can handle.

He's a walking controversy.
I'm not speaking to this like it's a conspiracy or anything of that sort. But I am speaking to it in that those who were complaining about them voted in someone who criticized them on the campaign trail but ultimately kept them in place. And those doing the criticizing went radio silent.

To me, most of the complaints aren't based on principle rather simple partisanship (hardly unique to tariffs but that's the topic...).

Most of the chatter on this forum appears to be tribal, doesn't it?

And do you understand President elect fat fuck moron is putting 25% plus tariffs on everything that is imported and it is the AMERICAN CONSUMER that will be paying it and as the economists say it could drive us into a deep recession / DEPRESSION?
Why do you right wingers / MAGA want to destroy this country ?
And how many of the components in that phone will be made in CHINA?
There are very very few products especially electronics made today anywhere in the world that don't have some of their parts made in China, You should look into it and make sure they don't have any in them I would be surprised if they don't have something made in Chins in them.
And IF you are going to buy one I would do it ASAP , I am not sure what phones cost now a days but if they are 400 dollars today after Trump puts his tariffs on they will be 500 or more., heck if they are 1000 then it will be 1250 after Trumps tariffs AT THE MIN.
And this is what you MAGAS voted for.

Someone is flirting with @christiefan915. Does @Life is Golden know this, Legion?

Biden kept the tariff in place because China made promises they didn’t keep.

Well, yeah. That's part of the way any kind of sanction works. You negotiate and present your grievances to the other party and impose the tariff. The other side either makes the concessions or promises right there, or they negotiate the best deal they can, or they refuse to conform. Whatever they decide, the tariffs can come off as quickly as they go on.

Obviously, we have reached a point where china has decided those sanctions are like mosquito bites, so they stay on. And will stay on until WE modify OUR behavior

Soooo... the Trump plan is to punish American consumers with tariffs to modify their behavior. Thanks for explaining that, Calli!

I hope you are right.
But if they back him into a corner he will and it will hurt the Economy and the AMERICAN people hard.
I am also hopeful that I am wrong and he doesn't do the BS he says he wants to but if he does IMO it will be the end of the USA as we have known it all our lives.
Don't try to hide behind the Constitution you despise, Tball.

They are overthinking it.
You are describing yourself again.
It is simple Trump figured out that tariffs are great weapons.
They can be.
Trump believes in overpowering.
Trump was elected President. What do you mean by 'overpowering'?
He thinks he can use America's economic market to determine what other countries should do.
Guess what? It works.
The problem is tariffs are not one-sided. They can turn the screws here. They will counter him and in the end, the American citizens will suffer.
China has had tariffs on US goods for quite awhile now. It's about time they suffer the same by the US.
