Once again, Trump is being handed a good and growing economy on a silver platter

Of course they won't. Let's assume though that a number of shoe/clothing, household goods, and electronics manufacturers do move back here. It will take years to build facilities. They will have to pay at least prevailing local wages, if not more, to attrract workers. That means that whatever they produce is going to cost quite a bit more than jeans or Nikes or iPhones do now. Think the American people will be pleased with that?
The good news is that many of JPP's MAGAts will be looking forward to those minimum wage jobs in Trump's sweat shops!

Here's a good solution which the union-busting oligarchs like Trump and Musk will hate:

and in the meantime they will have to build factories for some products that will take years and in the mean time the cost of just about everything will go up. and if it does cause a recession / depression like some economist say it might , unemployment will skyrocket , people won't be able to afford what the can now, and those new factories will not be built.
Trumps tariffs are just a recipe for disaster.
The MAGA who cried about high inflation under Biden got what they wanted so when prices go up 20/30/40% or MORE watch them cry then and BIG time.
Then on top of it the right wants to cut programs that benefit low income workers , the poor, people on SS so when they do that IF they do what are people going to do during a recession /depression if it happens.
as I have said before there are people out there right now working two or more jobs ( a lot of part timers because there aren't a lot of full time jobs because they don't want to pay people full time wages and benefits ) and depend on some of these programs to get by what are they going to do?
Like I said before they better start scoping out there new homes under our bridges,
IF Trump does even 1/3 of what he says he wants to do it will do great harm to a lot of AMERICANS and he doesn't give a shit.
As he said he doesn't give a shit about anybody he just wanted your vote and for you to give him more of your money.
IMO the shit show has already started.
MAGA got what they wanted so now they own what happens from now on.

If we were to go back and look at this board when Trump put the initial tariffs in place people here (liberals) hated them. But all the negative posts about them stopped once Biden took office.
Well, it didn't make the news to anywhere near the same degree when Biden left them in place as it did when trump enacted them.

Which I think stands to reason.

One could ascribe that to "lib'rul media bias" as a simple, knee-jerk reaction, or it could be explained in a less conspiratorial way which is, that enacting something (tariffs in this case) is a much more noteworthy event than leaving existing policy (tariffs again) in place.

I guess a half-assed comparison would be like when a band releases a new song, it gets a lot of attention from the media and fans. Four years later when they re-release a remastered version of it, it gets a little attention, but nowhere near as much.

I'm sure there are better illustrations than that, but I just can't think of any right now.
I hate tariffs, with a passion, so I was actually encouraged when I saw so many liberals speak out against them (we have an area of bi-partisan agreement) but once they went radio silent under Biden I knew it was a (partisan) political thing.

I think you're just overestimating the public's attention to details. Plus, it depends on what all else was in the news around that time, taking up all the air in the room. Trade policy is really kind of a picayune issue compared to all the other things making headlines and let's face it, trump gives the media more to report about and the public more to digest, than they can handle.

He's a walking controversy.

It is too late to unionize , The shit show has already started and IF as some economist say Trump puts tariffs on and drives up costs to the AMERICAN CONSUMER it could cause a deep recession / depression there won't be a lot of full time jobs and it will be too late to go back.

It's never too late, but it would take a decade or more to rebuild after decades of anti-union Republicans have destroyed it. Sad.

Oddly coincidental, but that movie (Norma Rae) was just on TV about a day or two ago.

I've never seen it, nor did I watch it this time, but out of curiosity, I Googled the subject and read a little bit about it.

It's a good movie. Unfortunately, I don't see it on free or subscription streaming. It did earn Sally Field an Oscar and, during her acceptance speech, gave her infamous "You like me! You really like me!" LOL

BTW, how many MAGAts really want that job? There's more than one reason why they are fucking morons who lap up whatever their Orange Messiah is splooging all over them.

Well all I can say is even IF after he puts his tariffs on and sees the damage they have done he could take them off but will other countries drop theirs ? and IMO companies will not drop their prices back to where they were before Trump put them on and they will pad their profits and will be gouging the American people.
like IMO they did and said they raised their prices because of inflation and raised them a couple percent more then the inflation was and padded their profits and gouged the American consumer.
EX EXON has been raking in record profits year over year for the last couple of years making billions and billions.

Trump, if he carries out his plans, will spike inflation and leave a mess for the next President to clean up.

If so, IMO, the odds favor Democrats regaining Congress in 2026 and the WH in 2028.

I know what you mean.
I was an auto worker for 40 years and use to hear a lot of people call us over paid under worked auto workers. well over those 40 years I have seen people with that attitude start and by lunch walk out saying things like I am not going to work like a N----- slave fuck this.
And in just those couple of hours changed their minds for good.
Now they give the auto worker a lot more respect.

Well as I said IF he does do it it will cause a big mess , and as economists have said it could lead to a deep recession / depression , and as it has been done before we will have to elect a DEM President to clean up the mess as the Dems have done before.

Coming from a military background, I didn't know shit about unions until I became an airline pilot. My learning curve was steep. Although I avoided the political side like it was radioactive, I spent over 20 years as a union safety volunteer.

There's a lot of pros and cons to unions, but mostly pros. It's also a First Amendment right which Republicans have long sought to squash.

Agreed, which is why it will be the Republicans, at the behest of their corporate overlords/donors, will be the ones to put the brakes on it.

Trump will make a few token efforts, declare victory and then blame the Democrats for stopping him from Making America White Again.

TBH, the only reason I took an interest, is because I just happened to switch to the channel it was on, during the scene where she had just finished getting boned in a motel by some hickbilly guy she'd been carrying on an affair with, who was played by the actor James Luisi.

Luisi is probably most notable for his role as LAPD Lt. Doug Chapman on the still popular (after five decades) 1970's detective series, The Rockford Files.

Top right corner....

BTW, if you're looking for where it's on TV for free, the OTA channel MOVIES! is running it currently.

Not sure for how long, though.

Henry Ford had to make his workforce the highest paid in America, because he found people wouldn't stay and do the work at normal conventional market salaries at the time

He also fought unions tooth and nail but his wife told him to except the union so he did and he said you want a union okay but from now on forever everybody that works for Ford motor company WILL be in the UNION .
And ever since then it has been a total union Company.
