It's not an overemphasis to accept that we need each other. I think the best societies are ones that have a balance of individualism and collectivism.
The problem with Lolberts is they want extreme individualism where it's everyone for themself. That actually makes it very easy for the government to become more authoritarian.

Individualists seem kind of Autistic, or something.

They detach themselves from society.

An extreme Individualist not only doesn't value society helping each other out.

An extreme Individualist says to judge all cultures, and races as just individuals.

Thankfully, many Lolberts seem to be teenagers who grow out of it when they see how interconnected society really is.
