i can understand the problem with the bart cop - but why riot and destroy businesses and go after opd that had nothing to do with the shooting
I think they're pissed the OPD didn't arrest the guy and investigate the murder.
but they do not have jurisdiction - it would be the jurisdiction of the county sheriff or state police
with all due respect to this incident, why is it the same people who get so angry and get up off their proverbial couches to action over this DO NOT get off their asses for gang land or other type killings?
why is it they only march and get upset over police killings? do you and they ever stop to thihnk that if they marched to the thug killings etc...that maybe, just maybe crime would go down?
it's interesting you say that as several of my (black) friends from Oakland have been making similar comments on Facebook.
Really, you have black friends who are wondering why blacks march against police executions of unarmed black civilians, instead of against black criminals?
What are their fucking names Cawacko, Michale Steele and alias'?
They sound pretty fucking stupid, if they exist.
You're not the only person here who has black friends, you're just the only person here who is constanly talking shit about your black friends and how they all agree with you and your nonsense.
I don't know one black person who would even listen to that shit, no less speak it.

What a completely asinine and ignorant comment. There's a HUGE distinction between crime and a representative of the State (i.e. a police officer) summarily executing an individual with out due process of law. For a repressed minority this is hugely frustrating when the expectation is that justice delayed is justice denied. In addition the OPD is completely to blame for the riot. As US Citizens we have a constitutional right to peaceably assemble for a redress of grievances and the people of Oakland damned sure have a legitimate grievance. The rioting did not occur until the OPD attempted to deny these citizens their right to peaceably assemble. It was there ham handed tactics that caused the rioting.
The OPD is as culpable for the rioting just as much as the BART police officer is for the murder of this young man.
Ok, I guess that touched a nerve. There was nothing political in my statement. Three friends of mine made comments on Facebook (I'm sure you know how Facebook words, these comments weren't to me personally but to everyone on their Friends list) that said why don't people get as upset when the other couple of hundred black youths are killed in Oakland each year. And my first thought was actually because this individual was killed by a police officer and thus is different. But I believe their comments are justified nonetheless in that if the community rallied against all violence like they are for this person killed maybe it would have an impact.
Considering you like to attend rallies I'm not sure why you would find the idea so offensive. And I'm really lost at what Michael Steele or even his mind set would have to do with any of this? Nor did I even attempt to speak about these guys agreeing or disagreeing with me. These people simply made comments similar to the one Yurt made above.
So maybe a thought would be simply to read what is being said without so many pre-conceived ideas that then influence you to think you are reading something different than what you actually are.
Here you go Darla, one of the quotes from Facebook. This guy is your typical Morehouse graduate Republican I'm sure.
"Dana is outraged by the BART Murder but is wondering why we are not equally outraged by the other 150 young black folks murdered in Oakland in 2008. "
What ignorance huh?

Cawacko, Yurt = stupid.
You connect the rest of the dots.
Yes.
Wow, you are really stupid sometimes Darla.
I love that a little white girl in the suburbs knows so much more about the violence in Oakland than those that live there. And a little white suburban girl doesn't care about black on black crime because it doesn't effect her. Nice being a princess huh?
