Pagan Roots? 5 Surprising Facts About Christmas

The fact Jesus wasn't born on the 25th isn't a big deal. When your family takes you out on a Friday for your birthday, that doesn't mean you were born on Friday. That's just when they all get together and celebrate it

What a peculiar person you are. I celebrate my birthday on my birthday, so do all my family, all my relations and all my friends. There may be a more convenient 'secondary' celebration, but that is all.
Funny how you have an arrogance so unique that you think your life and beliefs are a microcosm of humanity in its entirety.
BTW I wonder if you know what Jesus' real name was?

Thanks bac....thats the best one I've heard in awhile......JC is just a made up character, huh, like Superman, right.....its a big hoax dreamed up by some dude about 2000 years ago....JC and Moses and Mary Magdalene and Judas, etc....How about Muhammad ?......hell of a story....

Damn that is funny stuff......with the new focus on mental illness these days, you've got to be careful about stuff like this....those voices in your head...you're version

of history......you're political views......etc......

whatever you do, don't let 'em know you have a gun at home....

The fact is that there were no first hand witnesses at the time to vouch for his existence. I am sure the man existed though not necessarily in the guise in which he is painted by the wilfully ignorant. It is deities that are pure fiction.

There are and have been several people who have about them a charisma that attracts followers, but in a world of seven billion it is unlikely that one person would ever carry the loyalty of even a significant fraction of them. The gaps in our knowledge are now small enough for men to look elsewhere for answers.

And you do not. There's a strong case for God right there.

I'm sure you can carry that case without help from anyone.
Remember though, that it is for those who believe in the supernatural to prove it, not for the intelligent to prove something does not exist.

That piece of shit is the poster child for why Christianity is complete turn-off.

Outside 'cattle/bible' country in America, religion is fading fast. There are even Muslims who are beginning to realise the ridiculousness of supernatural beliefs. Strange how the States still hangs on to archaic ideas yet criticises Islamists for wanting to put the clock back.

The irony goes right over pointy heads here.

:awesome:

Sure, who wouldn't believe that "god" impregnated a virgin who had his son who after his death magically zoomed up to Heaven.

:whoa:

Mental Illness???

:)

It was I who made out with her and then left in my "chariot of fire". We still used plasma thrusters back then.

I am in my 500th cloned body.

Just as plausable as the biblical account.

sure there is. there is historical, anecdotal and eye witness evidence.

your comparison to SC falls far short of a true comparison. it isn't even close.

What historical, anecdotal and eye witness evidence?

I tend to believe that some character known as Christ existed, but there is no hard evidence. The Gospels were written 30-35 after his death. Josephus wrote of him 65-70 years after his death and some of that is questioned by historians.

Jesus was a Libertarian.

It's quite obvious that by Christmas he meant the popular rituals that the word describes not the word itself. Your criticism of his argument is an example of petty, stupid and childish trolling.

look dimwit.....nobody is denying that the secular tradition of "Christmas" comes from earlier traditions......I simply pointed out in my first post that it was wrong to claim that what the Christians celebrate on the 25th was borrowed from the pagans......its not my fault he was stupid enough to try to argue that point......

actually, neither statement is true.....it is simply there for you to accept or reject.....
