Palin resigns as AK governor

I hate to say it, but I think this effectively ends any hopes of a 2012 Palin presidential run, and perhaps even a 2016 run. Palin is young enough, a 2020 campaign is not out of the question at all, she would still be a fairly young 56, even 2024 at 60, she could do it. So, a LOT of mileage left on Palin's political future, and it's way to early to speculate on her political demise.

I think there is a possibility she could be looking at the 2010 senate seat of Lisa Murkowski, or perhaps she knows something about the request for a special election on the other senate seat. It seems an odd time and a little rash politically, but a potential run for Senate in 2010 would at least make some sense. Another possibility is, she plans to tour the country, speaking to crowds of adoring conservatives who totally love her, and effectively combat the 'negativism' being hurled at her and the right, by the leftist dirtbags. Or maybe she plans to take her children and escape to some remote South Pacific island for a while? I couldn't say I blame her!

at least she is an honest politician in that she quit her day job to run full time for pres

i rather hope she gets the nomination...

Her career is effectively over. She didn't use her moment in the spotlight well. In fact, she just basically threw it down the toilet. And the faction of the Republican party that "adores her" (as Ditsie put it) is growing increasingly small and irrelevant.

Palin Ahead in 2012 Race
With Romney as her bucket of warm spit

Excerpt:
The 2012 primaries are far away, but if they were starting today Sarah Palin would enter with the highest net approval ratings among self-described Republicans, according to a recent Pew poll. According to Pew, her GOP popularity, as measured by her net approval-minus-disapproval ratings, is +56, with Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich a bit further back, at +39 and +33 respectively, and Tom Michael Steele trailing far behind that trio with a +14 and 58 percent of Republicans asking "Who?"

Romney is benefitting from a perception of a steady-as-he-goes maturity and scandal - or blunder-free eights months since the 2008 presidential election.

Wait - it could be that he has no testicles and thus no sex drive.

(I've heard rumors about Romney for years.)

Is this why Romney has no girlfriend or boyfriend?

another thought:

why of all time........now, this weekend....

That's EXACTLY what makes me think it's a scandal in the making. Usually a Friday night sneak is done to mitigate collateral damage from material being released to the press. They do it at a time when everyone has gone home for the weekend at the newspapers so by the time it's published it's Sunday morning and it's old news and lands on page A8.

The fact that she chose a Friday that most people have off from work (ie. out and about and not reading the news or watching TV) makes me believe it's something pretty heady in the making.

stupid is as stupid does

unless of course, there is a scandal....if there is not a scandal....i'm glad she quit now, obama is at least not a quitter, because he is not dumb "enough" :cof1:

Here's the video of her announcement. It's just bizarre.

Wow, that's really weird.

She wants to avoid being a "lame duck" because she doesn't want to "put Alaska through that." WTF

she's lame, if that is reason....she needs to go away, far, far away....good lord, what is she going to do, quit in her last term as president because she is a lame duck

I wonder if this is the result of a diva hissy fit over the result of the Vanity Fair article?
ie finding our what some Republicans think of her.
