Passengers subdue dangerous foreigner on American Airlines flight

I have said nothing about Penny but in doing a bit of research, it appears that this is a case of FAFO. I do agree that if Penny was armed as he should have been, a couple of rounds to Nelly's kneecap would have probably done the job and he would have stopped threatening everyone in the train car.
Shoot first and then let the cops sort it out? Typical maga response.

Yes, he was having a schizophrenic episode and appeared threatening but it shouldn't have resulted in his death. Penny and the other guys could have sat on his legs and held his arms behind his back. The chokehold was beyond the pale, IMO.

1. "Appeared threatening".

I hope you're never trapped in a space with anyone like Neely who "appears threatening".

I'm sure I can rely on you to refuse to allow any big strong M E N to step in while you bravely psychoanalyze and share life experiences with the psychotic. /s

2. Could have, but didn't.

3. Are you insinuating that Penny deliberately killed him?

I think it was manslaughter.

"Penny maintained the hold after the train had reached its next stop, Broadway–Lafayette Street, while other passengers held the doors open to prevent it from moving. During the chokehold, some bystanders gave warnings on Neely's health, with one telling Penny, "You're gonna kill him now", while others helped in holding him down until police arrived Vázquez captured the final three minutes of the hold on video, which shows Penny applying it for nearly a minute after Neely had stopped struggling and gone limp."

And here is something from law enforcement.

"Possibly the most important element of training for the use of chokeholds in law enforcement is the understanding that the subject should always be able to breathe freely. The operator uses his right arm to compress both sides of the subject's neck, assisted by the pressure of his left hand, while his elbow, sharply flexed and centered over the midline, places no pressure on the trachea."

I think it was manslaughter.

What you "think" isn't really germane in a criminal proceeding.

Don't try to tell me you've never maintained a hold after a M A N stopped struggling and went limp, either.

The criminal proceeding isn't over yet so we'll see. My thoughts don't matter but the official charges do.

"On May 11, Penny was charged with second-degree manslaughter. Penny turned himself into the police the next day and was released on bond. On June 14, he was formally indicted by a grand jury. An additional charge of criminally negligent homicide was added on June 28.

On November 12, 2024, the New York Times wrote, "Eric Gonzalez, who helped Daniel Penny pin Mr. Neely to the floor of a subway car, also said he had lied when he told investigators Mr. Neely had hit him."

Btw Leggiekins, I'm sure you know this but I'm posting it for the others who may not. Good thing Penny's not a federal officer.

"Federal officers are now prohibited from using chokeholds and executing warrants unannounced in some circumstances, the Justice Department announced Tuesday.

Under the new policy, law enforcement officials cannot use "chokeholds" or "carotid restraints" unless deadly force is authorize. These restraints restrict the airway or blood flow to the brain when pressure is applied to the neck."

These leftists must criticize any acts of self-defense on the part of American citizens; it is to be treated as illegal and criminal, most especially for white people. It's part of the agenda of legalizing hate crimes against them, promoted by Obama and Holder.
