Traditionally, Liberals and Conservatives have kept our nation in balance just like a husband and wife should balance the marriage and create synergy. This is good and as it should be. When one side or the other is too powerful and both dominates and shuts down the other, that breaks the balance and usually ends up in destroying the union.
When the Cold War ended, the Democrats held both the White House and Congress. IMO, they went too far resulting in Newt and his Angry White Man revolt allowing the Republicans to take the House for the first time in 40 years. Good. There was some back and forth for several elections with both good and bad results. While there are still some far lefties in Congress, most Democrats seem to have moved more towards the center. Not so with the Republicans, now the Party of Trump. Trump purged traditional Republicans in 2018 Midterms and continued to pull strings in Congress and elections all the way up to 2024.
How far do you think he will go? Do you think there's a chance he'll declare martial law and cancel the Midterms to hold onto power? If so, what percentage? 1% ? 10%? 25%? 50%?

I'm not sure we have the full story. What was the assault? It's possible that he's horrible and will be convicted of a different crime than the one he was pardoned for (not clemency, Trump pardoned those folks).
