Most people, even Trump voters, are peaceful. They try to mind their own business and "keep their nose to the grindstone" to make better lives for themselves, their families and, in some cases, their neighbors. It's the hateful, the angry and the malcontents who speak loudly and seek to disrupt society around them.

The progression of Newt's "Republican Revolution" in 1994 AKA the "Angry White Man's Revolution" to today's Party of Trump has shown a distinct progression toward White Nationalism. I think most Americans are numb to it since Democrats have been labeling Republicans as Nazis and fascists since Vietnam. Now that they have become fascists, not many people are showing concern.

I don't see a very bright future for this country or humans in general. We seem to be moving closer and closer towards a mass acceptance of authoritarianism by the kind of people who so enthusiastically support trump and MAGA. They seem to believe that they will be immune and eventually benefit from a right-wing dictatorship, and that liberals will be the only ones subjugated.

By the time they realize that they've been caught in their own snare right alongside those who they wanted to see relegated to the bottom of society, it will be too late. They'll be living in the police state right alongside the rest of us, with all their former basic human rights abrogated just like ours.

An understandable POV, but I'm more optimistic. History moves in cycles and we appear to be at the bottom of one. It may take 20-30 years to unfuck, but I believe humanity will be better for it. Listen to them. If they say Trump is planning on doing this and he hasn't said he was (as you said Trump tells you what he's going to do), it is because they plan on doing it. I believe that next time the left has the White House this is something they will try to do, because when I see them say things like this with no evidence or even a hint that Trump is actually thinking of such a thing, it is because it is central to their minds.

I agree that a blanket pardon was a "bit much" (exaggeration) and he should have taken the time to separate out the violent criminals... Believe me. Folks who assault cops, even if it is on January 6th, deserve to serve their full prison terms. I'm not supporting that action. However, pretending that nobody ever who was pardoned by a Dem ever committed a crime is just not supported by reality. Blanket pardons are problematic. So are preemptively pardoning family and friends...
