Pete Hegseth confirmation hearing

He's saying what generals shouldn't do after they leave, but not willing to apply that standard to himself, because KA-CHING!
KA-CHING is right. In the Party of Trump, it's all about the money.

I liked Sen. Peters question asking if the way to raise the standards of the US is military is by lowering the standards for the Secretary of Defense.

Wow, Sen. Duckworth is pissed at Pete.

She's a combat vet herself and can spot an idiot a mile away. She's previously publicly spoken against his qualifications.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) on Monday said President-elect Trump’s nominee for Defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, is “vulnerable” to blackmail from U.S. foreign adversaries and reiterated her stance that he is not “qualified” to run the Pentagon.

“It would sow confusion because our leaders in the military would not know to what they could talk to the secretary of defense about,” Duckworth, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said during her Monday appearance on MSNBC’s “Reid Out.”

“And by the way, for our allies, I would be reluctant to share information with the United States military, our leadership information that would keep us safe and keep our troops safe because they didn’t know this man is compromised,” she added.

“Remember, the point of the background check is to make sure the person you put forward can’t be compromised, can’t be blackmailed, can’t be bribed,” Duckworth said. “These are all types of things that background check is supposed to be providing information to me, the senator who is going to be part of the advice and consent.”

‘Not Hearing an Answer’: Hegseth Refuses to Commit to Resigning if He Drinks on the Job:whoa:

Pete Hegseth refused to commit to resigning if he drinks on the job while running the Pentagon.

The Fox & Friends Weekend host dodged questions from Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono at his confirmation hearing Tuesday about whether he’d “resign as Secretary of Defense if you drink on the job, which is a 24/7 position.”

“I have made this commitment on behalf of the men and women I am serving,” Hegseth began to say, referring to his promise that he would not drink if he was confirmed.

“I’m not hearing an answer to my questions,” the Democrat senator said.

Hirono referenced reports from The New Yorker and NBC News that Hegseth had a history of drinking heavily at work while the president of a veteran’s advocacy group and that his drinking habits affected his job as a Fox News morning host.

Wow -- Hegseth steamrolls Hirono as she tries to ask him about accusations of being drunk on the job. He then dodges a question about if he'll commit to resign as sec def if he drinks on the job pic.twitter.com/bd6uo5QQPY

“As secretary you will be in charge of maintaining good order and discipline by enforcing the Uniform Code of Military Justice. … I have read multiple reports of your regularly being drunk at work, including by people who worked with you at Fox News,” Hirono said.

She then asked, “Do you know that being drunk at work is prohibited?”

Hegseth, who has denied having a drinking problem, insisted the reports were false.

“Those are multiple false anonymous reports peddled by NBC News that run directly contradictory to the dozens of men and women and Fox News channel,” Hegseth said.

This is a developing story.
