Mapping the location of electrical discharges in the brain explains nothing about consciousness, anymore than mapping the orbit of the moon explains gravity. Even ancient people could observe and map the lunar cycles.

You are massively confusing observation of a process with explanation.
 
There are chemicals I can take right now that, upon taking them, after they process through my liver, will induce in me the feeling of intense love.

I have taken chemicals that, upon taking them and processing by my body, made me feel supreme joy and happiness well in excess of my normal levels.

I guess that means God was watching and decided to create feelings in these brains to make it seem like the chemicals did it.

Why would he do that?

Or could it possibly mean that our emotions are often just chemical in nature?
