If you accepted the assignment you were given and wrote that you had guilt, when you did not, that would be being Politically Correct. I don't see that the assignment itself was politically correct.

It is up to the individual to not be pushed into being Politically Correct, not the person trying to do the pushing.

Your example finally made it click in my head what Politically Correctness is and what it is not. Many Conservatives are making it into something much more than it is, often in an attempt to feel good about saying something outrageous and trying not to suffer any response.

What you don't have the right to do is expect someone say something in a manner you believe they should say it. In other words, if you don't like HOW I say something, tough shit. Nothing says you have to like it and nothing gives you the right to say how I should say it.

If I were given such an assignment I would write about why I have no such guilt and I would go on to write about how I am not to blame for the sins of my ancestors, but that I can recognize how I benefited from what my ancestors did that was wrong. I can make sure I am cognizant of how other families were treated in the past and understand how that affects the situation they were born into today. Even tough I don't feel guilt I can work to help people who were not born into as fortunate of a situation as I was born into.

I don't believe in different assignments for different races no matter the reason. Are you sure that was the assignment or were the instructions changed to make it sound worse than it is?

I think you don't see it as PC because your personal definition of PC doesn't allow for it. Political Correctness does have the word political in it Jarod. PC doesn't just happen, there's a political motivation behind it.

I guess that is a basic difference between you and me. I assume that God created you and put you here and by that virtue you have a right to respect. You might lose my respect, but by being human, you start out with it.

I understood that. If that assignment were truly given, I would have responded with a paper, but I would have rejected the premise and explained why.

I actually did things like that a lot in HS and was often rewarded for it.
