Powering Europe with solar via the global solar interconnector

Dad tricks daughters into thinking they had to go to school over Easter. Next year he will tell them that there is going to be a huge solar farm floating in the Indian Ocean!

It will be interesting to see the Saudi plans come to fruition, they are not turning to solar for any altruistic reasons though. They want to conserve their oil for export and rely on solar to power their air conditioners. Did you know that aircon uses fully 70% of electricity generated by their hugely inefficient oil fuelled power stations?

Yes.. the Chinese are building 700 coal fired power plants OUTSIDE China.

Probably faster than that but why is it that dumping plastics in the ocean is bad, but covering it with solar panel rafts suddenly sounds brilliant?

Unless you want a robot to have your job, you should oppose free energy for the corporations.
 
I'm concerned about all the hot air that would be produced unless solar can be converted to electrical energy with 100% efficiency. Have they thought about the effect on global warming?
