President Obama Reached Out To Republicans, And Was Rebuffed

Hello NiftyNiblick,

Well, politalker, here's the problem with that.
The word "American" refers only to a nationality, not an ethnicity.

I have no problem with that. Actually, I kind of like the diversity we have. It is a strength and a beauty all it's own.

Even Native Americans are from diverse tribes. The rest of us are even more diverse immigrants.

We don't have, and never have had, the solidarity experienced by homogeneous cultures.

I am glad for that.

Multicultural societies can work, perhaps, but not when political ideology is split evenly down the middle.
That's the recipe for what we have now, and it can't possible last.
The US is a powder keg.
We may as well get the "big bang" over with.

No. I disagree. We have every reason to keep it together. Reasons that are bigger than our current differences, reasons that are bigger than our time.

What we WANT to be true almost never is.
That's what happens in a universe comprised of the random confluence of sub-atomic particles in space.

Some of those particles coordinate very well with one another despite being radically different at the outset.

I would postulate that the broken up bits of America you envision would suffer the same problems we now face. There is no place to draw the line which is going to be agreeable to all. American families are already spread out all over the nation. We cannot tell them they have to cross national boundaries to see one another. Particularly if the governments on either side of those boundaries are having disputes adn closing borders. You cannot ask people to pull up stakes and start all over again somewhere else because somebody else wants to divide up the nation. Who would keep the Star Spangled Banner?

Obama was a uniter.

Republicans have been dividers.

They are still at it.

Trump is the biggest divider of all. He's no leader. He says mean and nasty things about Democrats.

Nonsense he made any disagreement on his policies about racism and divided us worse than any 3 President!

I've always liked politalker, but rarely agreed with him.
Here we can clearly agree.
Trump has been no respectable champion for any ideology.
His moral deficiencies are shocking even to old timers like myself who thought we've seen everything.

I am a social democrat, but if I were a libertarian or a conservative, I would not tolerate Trump as a leader or even a participator.
I can't imagine what his supporters are thinking, but they certainly appear to be irredeemable from my perspective.
The basket of deplorables was real.

I didn't believe in Satan worshipers until this administration was inflicted upon us.
Maybe because I wasn't in 1930s Germany.
