then you wern't paying attention to US sending gobs of adanced weapons to Ukraine
sanctions. more sanctions.
Refusal to take Russian redlines seriously
Putin got out of the box, and can do so because China has his back

Ah yes, the "advanced weaponry" that #TRE45ON dangled over their heads in exchange for dirt on the Bidens. Gotcha. :awesome:

if that is your level of thinking you might as well not think on this
( not you personally-many are still stuck on the annexation as well)
l 'm not even going to debate the "quid pro quo" or corrupt Hunter. MoveOn

Putin has been explicitly clear for the past twenty years that the dissolution of the USSR was a tragedy, and his vision was a reunification of the Russian-speaking Slavic areas of the former Russian empire.

I think Putin reached his crossing the Rubicon moment. When Trump was in office, he didn't have to worry about Trump supporting NATO membership for Ukraine. Trump hated Ukraine.

Putin tried to intimidate NATO into concessions with his military mobilization, but not having received those concessions now it's at a point where he can't back down.

The weird thing about Putin's legacy, is that if he had left office in 2008 after his second term, he would have been considered one of Russia's greatest leaders in history. He was a competent bureaucrat who saved Russia from economic collapse and from turning into a failed state, and there were still some incipient democratic institutions in Russia in those years.

Thanks, sounds like a well-thought-out analysis.

Are you as tired of living in interesting times as I am?

Of course you don't want to discuss that; the "perfect phone call" got your glorious #TangerineTyrant impeached. No wonder so many ppl here believe that you are a Russian asset.

im happy to discuss it. but it's not relevant to current events. Ukraine is awash in US weapons.
Trump sent Javelins for Kyiv defense only. Biden sent Zelensky 1/2 the freaking Pentagon.
Javelin on the front line
what difference did it make?

Those parts of the Ukraine didn’t announce themselves independent

Putin declared them so

You are without a doubt a Russo bot hole

No- Putin RECOGNIZED their independence. The truth is not concealed from you.

You are wise. Neither do I.

I am against all imperialism on principle: USA in Iraq, Russia in Ukraine and Georgia, Israeli land grabs in West Bank.

There are some message board posters who seem to think the only imperialism in the world is American and Israeli.

That was Russians who infiltrated The area and took over the local news, government and police

Let’s have a vote of the people you shitty Russian

That’s why the infiltrating Russians had to come in with weapons to steal the town

So they could pretend that’s what the People wanted

Any doubt left that this is a Russian folks?

You've been scared out of your wits.

Weird comment

How is fear involved with me pointing out that you are clearly a Russian?

I don’t fear Russia or you idiot

Russia is a failed state

They can’t survive once oil goes below a certain price level

Say 100 barrel

Is that why Putin is doing this?

To get oil prices up?

We can solve that

We can rush as a world to alternative sources to make oil go down below 100 a barrel

Then Putin’s profits from oil goes under water

And we can sanction Russia until it starved to death

Then his own people will ghadaffi him

I still prefer these times to the Cold War. I cannot remember a time in my life where there wasn't war, conflict, insurrection. This one is more problematic, Putin is apparently bent disregarding the post Cold War international consensus.

It's certainly the most important, the Israeli fascists having infiltrated Washington to the point wherein people think that they're Americans.

Haw, haw...................................haw.

China/Asia can afford to buy virtually all exports

ALL THE YEARS I'VE BEEN SCREAMING WE ARE ISOLATING RUSSIA and forcing it to be a Chinese partner remember that??
so here it is. what I told you so.
mindless sanctions, mono-polarism, and refusing to act like Russia is a great power got us here

Even the Chinese foreign minister said yesterday that Ukraine's territorial sovereignty should be respected.

You seem to think a hypothetical China-Russia anti-western alliance is supposed fill us with terror, and make us genuflect to Vladimir Putin.

China is always going to be ambivalent about an actual anti-western military alliance with Russia. Russia is a fading 21st century economic power, and China is always going to walk a tight rope between the west and Russia. China knows it's economic security in the 21st century is largely oriented towards the West, not towards Moscow.

Right, Putin thought there was a reasonable chance Trump would blow up NATO, or at least undermine American credibility as an ally.

Putin lost his lapdog when Trump decisively lost the 2020 election.

My friend from Ukraine said her family still in Kiev are worried but not terribly so. They're still hoping for a peaceful resolution.
