Trump has never won the vote in an election, ever. His rallies are shrinking in size and enthusiasm. Trump is through. He jumped into the presidential race earlier than anyone ever did because he hoped it would confer some immunity from his crime spree. Apparently, it missed. Trump is not popular, just powerful in the Repub party. He can primary anyone he wants. So reasonable Repubs have to suck up to him. The party has not produced any other national candidates.He has several people running against him and their function is to make him win. He has a lock on a segment that is more powerful when there are other candidates siphoning off reasonable voters.

I thought anyone who follows politics understood the power of Trump to primary those who did not suck up to him. Primaries have a fraction of the voters that the regular elections do. Trump can speak or campaign against those who have their own thoughts. His well-programed voters who up to vote. That percentage can determine a politician's career.
