Questions for survivalists

again, you're operating under the hugely mistaken belief that the person making 5 million owes you anything.

They owe society a lot if they benefited through tax loopholes and reduced tax rates on certain revenue having taken money that should have gone to the betterment of society.

If the average wage is sufficient to feed a family what person deserves compensation sufficient to feed 100 families? If the average wage is sufficient to buy a home what contribution to society could anyone make that justifies their reward of 100 homes? Or 100 doctor's appointments?

Food. Homes. Clothing. Medical care. What individual deserves 100 times what the average person is entitled to?

The individual with skills that are worth 100x the average salary. What those skills are depends on the situation. If I could take a failing company and turn it around and make it successful, paying me a bonus of 10% of the profits would be WELL worth it. In the post-apocalyptic world such a person would be worthless, but a gunsmith, metal worker or carpenter would be worth his weight in gold.

Did the people making the money create the loopholes or just use what was there? Howmany people do you know that pay more taxes than they owe?

The "post-apocalyptic world"?

this might be hard for you to believe, but we here in America live in a country where our property is ours, not the worlds, not societys, and not yours.

It's unfortunate you can not see what's happening. Following is a condensed version.

Look at countries in the western hemisphere where there is a large gap between the "Haves" and the "Have-Nots". Crime is rampant. That's why when tourists visit many of those places they're warned not to stray too far from the resort. Unless changes are made the same thing will happen here. While you may live in a large country there will be many unsafe places just as there are now small sections of cities where one is advised to avoid.

The lessons are there to be learned. The Western European countries which we think of as Socialist are much safer to travel in than those previously mentioned.

I don't aspire to a future where people live in gated communities out of necessity and fear traveling the open road. Maybe it's due to having watched too many episodes of Route 66.

you expect way too much from and out of society. you're opinion of western european countries is also a little misguided. in case you haven't paid attention to the news lately, there are riots going on from your equal society movement.

But that's just it. Where is the equality when the programs for the poor are being cut because the money went to the bankers? Prior to the financial fiasco the majority of people in those countries expressed satisfaction in their way of life.

It's understandable one would not pay more than obliged to do so, however, acting on a bad law does not excuse the individual. Just as Buffet suggests the wealthy should pay more it wouldn't be fair if only he paid more and his contemporaries did not.

i'd say that if you were a citizen of the US, you would need to have congress answer that question. personally, I think the government should start cutting it's non-discretionary budget first, but nobody is going to listen to me.

you let mr. buffet know that if he wants to help those in need directly, i'll be happy to invite him over for steaks on the grill and he can give me 100k.

I thought only Socialist nanny-statists wanted to take money from the wealthy job creator/super-achievers.

Programs that help the poor. I'm not surprised.
