Racial Cleansing... in L.A.?

You have a comprehension problem Damo ? I in no way blamed the republican party for those who watched the shows. Sheesh.
I said there is a pack mentality thing or run with the big dog this in humans that cause the show watching, hero worship and wanting to run with those with money, aka republicans.
sigh...
And I said support it with something other than just this insistence because evidence shows that such "worship" takes place among those of every party. I think you want to believe that all republicans are bad so much you refuse to see the exact same action among others.

I don't think anybody joins any of the parties because they think they will be thought to be "rich".

Not at all, the republicans are just worse at it.
Any who blindly follow a party are fools.
But that diverts from my discussion on why some/many follow the republicans....
But then you are sooo good at diverting away from inconvenient truths....

As I said, I have yet to find one person I would say "follow" the republicans because they think other people will believe them to be "rich". Other than your insistence that it is, I have seen no evidence to support it.

While blindly following a party gets us things like the crappy-assed pill bill, NCLB and other things that most republicans would never have supported without a President who said they were republican in the WH... It doesn't stand to reason that they blindly follow because others will think they are "rich".

Many, but most do not.

You speak as one who thinks they know more than they do about gangs and gives a view jaundiced by their own view of the "system". You take one group and pretend all gangs are related to this.

You know nothing about me, but assume much. I lived and worked among them for many years of my life my opinion is not coming from "watching TV" but from the actions I have witnessed among the people I grew up with.

You can take your elitist attitude and assumption of my life and get rid of it. If you wish to know from where my opinion comes then ask rather than assume my life and experience. You, as many on here, will find you are more often wrong the more you attempt to do that.

I didn't judge where you came from or what you've done in life. I judged what you said, which was in my opinion exactly as I described it. Regardless of what you've done ..

"Very few people join gangs because they think gansta life is the way that all people should live, they do it because they are too weak to stand on their own and believe that the only respect they will receive is that 'respect' that is demanded rather than commanded by their actions."

.. that doesn't sound like it comes from somebody who knows what they're talking about. It's a cartoonish characterization.

"Respect" isn't the main motivation of why people join gangs, no more than it was of the mafia, nor are gangs simply filled with "weak people who can't stand on their own." Gangs are often filled with strong-willed, and often intelligent individuals who reject society.

I have seen gangs on many levels in society. Usually there are a few strong willed ones and the rest are just followers....

Cliques are just gangs on a different scale with different goals.

And this sounds like it comes from sombody who confuses "most" to mean "all" and presents "many" as a stereotype.

I said, many do, but most do not. Many become christians because they are simply expected to, but most do because they believe. Can you see the difference in the words?

I absolutely can sir .. but you used the word "few."

I've had a hand in working with street gangs for almost 20 years now, and often they are simply creatures of circumstance.

SO that justifies any racial cleansings they may embark upon?

Nothing justifies the actions of most gangs.
I watched as friend after friend went to jail from all those "circumstances". They "felt" as if there was no other way...

I learned through watching that it isn't circumstance that makes it happen, it is your choices through which you will define the rest of your life. Each decision you make is either a new beginning or a further step on the path you selected. On this framework I built my future choices in life and chose a far different path even though the same circumstance defined my living conditions as defined theirs.

Dude, you not only said "few", you said "very few" ..

Very few people join gangs because they think gansta life is the way that all people should live, they do it because they are too weak to stand on their own and believe that the only respect they will receive is that 'respect' that is demanded rather than commanded by their actions.

You also said they are weak-willed and I suggest that they are no more weak-willed than you are or most anybody else.

Would you consider gangsters in the mafia to be "weak-willed", or they joined the mafia to get "respect", or because they couldn't stand on their own?

Capone, Gotti, Dillinger .. weak-willed?

They were far from weak-willed .. and according to you, they were brave.

There is no difference between the gangs of then and the gangs of now.

Absolutely Damo. Most of how our lives go are the results of past decisions.
Not all, but most.
What we cannot control is largely the results of decisions by others.
