Racism and monkeys

I confess, I am ignorant of what the connection is between racism and monkeys. From what I have observed it seems to be specifically in regard to blacks, but I do not know if it is a racial slur to connect other races with monkeys. When I compare human pictures to monkey pictures, I do not see how they could ever be confused, but I do see that we share many similar features. Can somebody educate me on why exactly it is offensive or racist to associate particular races with monkeys?

Racist try to make others less than human.

Would it be racist to say "proud as a peacock"? Sing like a bird?

Were you referring to one specific racist when you said "racist try"? If there is more than one racist involved, one would refer to them as "racists", but it sounds like you are referring to only one. Which one are you referring to?

Unless you have been discriminated against in a like manner, it's difficult to relate to the sensitivities of others.

Many Black people find comparisons with primates offensive. That's all you need to know.

Don't do it.

Just because they feel it, are you obligated to acknowledge it?

Here are a few comparisons I found in google images. Would all of these these be considered racist?

So it is offensive specifically to blacks?

As far as I know. Maybe others find it offensive, too. My question is, if you know something is likely to offend someone and lay you open to accusations of racism, why do it?

Yes, if you don't the the consequences of ignoring it. It's called respect and sensitivity.

Why give liberals ammunition?

We have a responsibility on our end to choose our words carefully. Common respect is a good thing, but we must also remember that righties actually have to take responsibility for what we say.

I have never found any reason to make these comparisons, so I am learning something new right now. It sounds like the comparison that one should avoid is specifically of monkeys or apes to blacks if I am understanding this right. I would be concerned that lefties could jump on the opportunity to expand the victim potential here, and use it to defend ms13 or to play victim for some other animal/human comparison.

Exactly my point. There are plenty of false accusation of racism without giving the left any credibility.

Lefties will "jump on" anything and everything to score political points anyway.

I don't see any reason to use terms that are known to be historically offensive in a context that will give credibility to the left's constant accusations.

I'm struggling to accept the notion that anyone in our society could be unaware of the fact that many (if not most) Black people don't like being compared to primates.
