Racist roads

Like the third thread on the same thing, regardless, that is not what he said, using your own source, he said "there is racism built into some of our highways," and he is not wrong, back in the day interstate highways weren't designed to run thru the upper middle class neighborhood for a reason

land was cheaper elsewhere......

In 1862, the Pacific Railroad Act chartered the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific Railroad Companies, tasking them with building a transcontinental railroad that would link the United States from east to west. Over the next seven years, the two companies would race toward each other from Sacramento, California on the one side to Omaha, Nebraska on the other, struggling against great risks before they met at Promontory, Utah, on May 10, 1869.

In 1865, after struggling with retaining workers due to the difficulty of the labor, Charles Crocker (who was in charge of construction for the Central Pacific) began hiring Chinese laborers. By that time, some 50,000 Chinese immigrants were living on the West Coast, many having arrived during the Gold Rush. This was controversial at the time, as the Chinese were considered an inferior race due to pervasive racism.

The Chinese laborers proved to be tireless workers, and Crocker hired more of them; some 14,000 were toiling under brutal working conditions in the Sierra Nevada by early 1867. (By contrast, the work force of the Union Pacific was mainly Irish immigrants and Civil War veterans.) To blast through the mountains, the Central Pacific built huge wooden trestles on the western slopes and used gunpowder and nitroglycerine to blast tunnels through the granite.

The building of the transcontinental railroad opened up the American West to more rapid development. With the completion of the track, the travel time for making the 3,000-mile journey across the United States was cut from a matter of months to under a week.

Hello, McFly? This is NOT the West 'round heanh.

There is railroad track going through the Okeefenokee though. That's a swamp. A big swamp with a lotta quicksand.

Ain't no "Pacific" 'round heanh.

PS: That highlighted line is abandoned now. Nothing going from say..Atlanta to CA anymore. One has to go way north before going west. The US is pretty sucky on rail lines.

Gotta go to Chicago to go west.

Railroad tracks are racist because they always run through black neighborhoods.

And as Marshall Matt Dillon, you should already know that Railroads were built across vast lands once owned by the Indians- but because the Government wanted their land, the GOVERNMENT killed off off as many Indians as they could, put the others in prisons, and sent the rest out to Reservations out in the desert and left them to die. The government even intentionally killed off the buffalo, so they wouldn't have anything to eat.

THAT IS PRETTY RACIST MR. DILLON!

Me and mine had not a damn thing to do with that. :dunno:

I don't think the government killed off as many as they could. I do think they killed too many off. The Indian way is actually pretty good for living as human beings.

Well, at least the Cheyenne way.

They were more peacable than say Cherokee or Iroquois.

The Miccosukkee almost look like the short Mexican illegals, but they are not.

They must've had some kind of mojo back in the day because Seminoles gave them half..okay maybe 1/3 of FL. The southern half not including the super redneck panhandle. Seminoles took the northern part. Derp!

Oh whoops, did I say that?

Interesting. The male secretary of transportation who was on maternity leave returns to confront racist roads when there is a complete breakdown of the supply chain.
We have entered the Twilight Zone.
