Rasmussen: Gingrich soars ahead of Mittens by 21%

There's definitely been some skin-pulling on her. She used to look cute and normal.

That was her????????? OMG! Why do they do it to themselves?????? Do they really think they look better?

has well-articulated and thought out answers to the issues and solutions to the problems

Unless a reporter asks him a "trick question" in which case he warns if anyone reports it he'll deny saying what he admitted he said.

I don't know if that's considered a "thought out" answer or a "far out" answer or an "out-of-this-world" answer.

Well, yeah, I think you'll probably see a lot of that, since the liberals have let it be known they intend to lie, distort, slander, or whatever it takes. I happen to think this might be where someone like Newt has an advantage over, say a Cain or even Romney, Newt can spin it right back around and thwack the pinhead reporter with his own question, whereas the others might not know how to respond appropriately.

I know, look how cute she is with the darker hair and pre-facelift. She looks like Newt's daughter. Maybe he wanted her to age herself a bit so the difference between them wasn't so stark.

So what is the purpose of "gotcha" questions other than to embarass the candidate rather than find out positions to inform the American people?

It wasn't a "gotcha" question. Newt rambled on about social programming concerning a Repub suggestion regarding medical care. When the shit hit the fan he backtracked and blamed the interviewer for asking a gotcha question. It had nothing to do with a gotcha question. The interviewer just wanted to know his position on medical care.

I think it was the next day he ran into a Republican supporter who said, "You're an embarrassment to the party. Why don't you get out before you make a bigger fool of yourself."

Here's the video.

And don't forget I was responding to Dixie’s comment, msg 229, “(Newt) has well-articulated and thought out answers to the issues and solutions to the problem.”

It's apparent Newt has neither.

Republicans are always such cry babies, it is the excuse they use every time they look bad in an interview! The mean old press!

Unless the interviewer is Hannity or O'Reilly and then they are big hateful poopy pants. The phoney outrage from you and apple is quite amusing.

What are you talking about? He didn't respond appropriately. After accusing the reporter of asking a gotcha question he phoned Paul to apologise for his stupid answer. Obviously, the guy can't think on his feet or sitting on his butt.

I'm sure the American people will have found Newt quite amusing long before voting day.

He explained his answer, and I think most people who would consider voting for him, can accept it. You weren't ever considering voting for Newt, so it really doesn't matter what you think he did, or how you think he handled it, now does it? Obviously, the guy knows well enough how to explain what he said, because he's leading by 21% in the polls right now. I know that's tough to deal with, Sally, but it looks like that's what you're going to have to do.

Sorry!

Talking about dealing with it I must say you have dealt very well with Hermie's fall from grace. I, and I believe others, are hoping you take Newt's downfall as graceful. It must be tough seeing your idols drop like files.

The blunder is coming as sure as Christmas. Be strong. There is no shortage of wackos and weirdos to take his place. I'm sure you'll find another candidate to whom you can relate when Newt bits the dust.

I disagree. Newt's response here was well thought out, articulate and factually correct. It was when he was confronted by a wing nut on the extreme and started getting pressure from the wingnut club that he started back tracking. I pretty much agreed with his comment here. It just shows you how sad the Repelican party has become and how the tail is wagging the dog now.

I personally don't give that much of a rats ass about Newts personal failings and hypocrisy. I'm going to vote for a chief executive. Not mother Theresa or the Pope. I'm going to vote based on the candidates ideas and ability to get shit done and govern affectively and competently. I felt that way about Clinton and I fell that way about Newt. I could give a shit less about cum stained dresses or expense accounts at Tiffany's.

I remember Carter and Reagan very well and how the left demonized and ridiculed Reagan. He was a dumb grade B movie actor and a hick cowboy who was going to get us all killed. I've heard it all before. Obama is worse than Carter and the people are hurting. Demonizing your opponent is all you have. Your pals have failed.

Which "liberals have let it be known they intend to lie, distort, slander"?

Cite.

LOL, Failias doesn't demonize Obama, does he?

But that's the point, Mott. It was when he was confronted by a wing nut on the extreme and started getting pressure from the wingnut club that he started back tracking.

At one point he blamed the reporter. Then he backtracked. Whether his answer was good or bad is secondary. As I've said before he's like John McCain. He'd sell his soul for the Presidency. And let's not forget he'd bring the "wingnut club" with him if he was elected. As you correctly stated the tail is wagging the dog. Would that change if Newt was elected?

The Repubs are demonizing their own. People complain about Obama not getting anything done. What are the Repubs going to accomplish when they can't get along among themselves?

I don't think Newt ever "backtracked" on what he said. I think people took a sentence he said out of context, ran with it for a few days, and he eventually had to CLARIFY what he meant. I can relate to this, I have to do it all the time here, because you pinheads can't seem to comprehend anything in CONTEXT! It's like trying to talk about STDs to Beavis and Butthead! Uhh-huu-huu... he said 'right wing social engineering'...uh-huu-huu...

One thing I admire Newt for, is putting it out there on the table in a reasonable and straightforward way, and not falling into the PC trap of saying and doing everything the way everyone else expects you to do. He made a brilliant point, and one that INDEPENDENTS should applaud, it's no better to cram right-wing ideology down the throat of America than left-wing ideology. He has most recently caught flack from conservatives on his statements about illegal aliens. But when you set aside the emotive elements of the far right, who are screaming NO AMNESTY, what he said makes brilliant sense. We're not going to just deport 20 million people! We HAVE to find a solution to this problem, which is realistic and doable, and that just isn't realistic or doable. To me, it takes great character and integrity to stand up there and say something you know is going to be unpopular, because it's what you believe.
