What you are suggesting -- obey law enforcement orders no matter what at all times -- is only rational in a situation where law enforcement can be trusted to be reasonable and impartial and act lawfully. That is not the country we live in. People have disappeared with no ability to contact anyone. People have been "detained" for hours while an "officer" drives them in circles around a city wondering what to do next without charging them with anything, without advising them of their rights, without any probable cause to "detain" them in the first place.
