But that's when they'll require our "aid and comfort". Change is difficult for the Conservative. Sharing. Helping the needy. Providing the most basic of life's necessities like medical care for those who are poor and ill are foreign concepts to today's Conservative/Republican mind. They'll talk about the Constitution and the Pilgrims and under what beliefs and concepts the country was founded unable to fathom the first settlers developed the prototype of the hippy commune. Everyone working together, combining talent and resources just to stay alive. A century later people were still holding on to those basic principals as witnessed by barn-raising where everyone contributed effort to help their fellow man. Men doing construction. Women supplying meals for the workers and doing less physically demanding work. Children doing chores around the home/farm while the parents were helping their neighbors.
They'll bitch and moan about how the Constitution is being violated when their perspective of the Constitution is twisted beyond recognition. The Preamble, the guiding principals to interpreting the Constitution, states, "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
"promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty". Simply stated, to help. There's nothing written to lead one to believe their intention was to "promote every man for himself and to hell with everyone else." There's nothing written to suggest their idea of the "Blessings of Liberty" was to subject ones fellow man to unnecessary hardship, scratching and scraping to feed their family when there's an abundance of food available or turning ones back on the homeless when there are hundreds of thousands of empty homes, over 150,000 in Nevada alone, empty and left to rot.
You'll be needed to comfort and educate the folks.
