APP - Republican Ideology through History

Hate to be a I told you so but...

'Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem." By Thomas E. Mann and Norman J. Ornstein

Rep. Allen West, a Florida Republican, was recently captured on video asserting that there are “78 to 81” Democrats in Congress who are members of the Communist Party. Of course, it’s not unusual for some renegade lawmaker from either side of the aisle to say something outrageous. What made West’s comment — right out of the McCarthyite playbook of the 1950s — so striking was the almost complete lack of condemnation from Republican congressional leaders or other major party figures, including the remaining presidential candidates.

It’s not that the GOP leadership agrees with West; it is that such extreme remarks and views are now taken for granted."

And so it goes....

"A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both." Dwight D. Eisenhower

It has been suggested the republican power structure does not trust their primary candidate Mitt Romney to be inflexible enough. [To this writer he seems on course concerning the rigid ideology of republicans today] The other candidates have little chance but in a field so weak, they dream that just maybe their time will come. Sometimes it comes and goes as Rick Perry demonstrated. Romney polls low among a party driven by ideology only. In a real sense republicans are at their best when in opposition to change and progress, the outline in the OP testifies to their failure to govern, but their constant whining, as shown by the tea party caucus and tax pledge followers, demonstrates how narrow focused republicans remain. So unless a 'real conservative' in their 'ideological image' appears, they may just continue to be against progress for America. They do that one thing better than anything else, that is, they do 'nothing' very well. Credit is due them there. Watch them in Congress today, you could watch any brick wall and see an equivalent spectacle unveil.

Recent: Obama went on offensive, helping mortgage holders and college students. Obama pushed jobs bill to help high unemployment and rebuild American states and cities, just as Roosevelt's job's bill helped rebuild and build America. Republicans again sidetracked real issues with malarkey about spending, taxes, and regulation, proving once again that the love of money is the greatest evil and the average voter has a short memory and pays little attention to results. It would seem that republicans with corporate support are still fighting Franklin Roosevelt's accomplishments and the freedoms given all by Lyndon Baines Johnson? Republicans today are the utopian ideologues who believe a few concepts can guide America towards heaven on earth. History proves them wrong over and over again. President Obama needs to attack them on their lack of values, and he needs allies in media and politics to do the same. When politics is only about power and not about America, compromise is impossible.

Interesting, a thought out reply. I have to review later, but social security helps all people, even those in need, Glass Steagall only protects some of us. I don't have time but Reagan was horrible for America, period, and history bears that out - Clinton was better but by so little it is hard to measure. More later when I read through it. Hopefully I get at least one or two good challenges and not partisan BS. I'd like a real thought from the revisionists who have failed these past 30 years.

"....there's a growing realization that the starting point for many of the catastrophes confronting the United States today can be traced to Reagan's presidency. There's also a grudging reassessment that the "failed"- presidents of the 1970s--Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter--may deserve more credit for trying to grapple with the problems that now beset the country." http://www.opednews.com/articles/Ronald-Reagan-Worst-Presi-by-Robert-Parry-090605-584.html

LOL
you got your ass handed to you

you don't seriously think we're going to waste our time by reading it twice, do you?......if you changed something, tell us what it is.....that way we don't have to point out your ignorance twice....

When we go into our heads we come out with ourselves. I would never expect conservatives to change or to read something and not form it into their own conceptions and misconceptions. The point of the piece is for others who are not yet completely formed in their thoughts and for myself to see if I am right and if this history is accurate as far as it goes. Hopefully some who read it will look further.

"...[T]he most important identity we can acknowledge in another person is the identity of being an intelligent reflective human being." Stefan Collini 'That's Offensive'

Not sure what the dialogue above was about or even what it referred to?

Addendum and still consistent with republican policy failures.

'Sabotage: How the Republican Party Crippled America's Economic Recovery'

"America paid a terrible price for the Republicans' intransigence. Whether they were deliberately damaging the economy or simply incompetent at making policy, the effect was clear: sabotage of the recovery, and a wound that would not heal for millions of American households." It is hard to describe the republican party today, its leaders are ideologues, talking heads, and a fringe made up of conspiratorial nutcases. There is no other way to describe them fairly. They persist in a litany of stupid remarks heard almost daily from elected officials which makes the 'witch candidate' and the 'VP candidate who read nothing' look normal if not regular. They get their soapbox on Fox where the last election proved clearly these people know nothing about America. And yet this is the base, a base heard online in a daily spewing of hatred for our democratically elected president. Just yesterday a former chairman of the republican party wondered why these stupid remarks persist and questioned why the few sane republicans don't speak up. I guess when the hardcore base shouts you down, there is no reason to even try to repair the GOP. Only the voters can repair the party but it seems gerrymandering has created a unsolvable problem when the candidates and elected republicans are of the same timber as the crazies.

Had to bump this and want to add to it going forward. Pres Obama was a great success after Pres Bush Jr. so many important regulations and great job growth.

Wow, not sure I'd have the patience to redo and edit this outline of history. This piece and my republican education piece are two favorites of mine. I want to add to the education piece as Trump after Obama is a fascinating if bizarre transition: Class and intelligence followed by bluster and hate. Most of the bluster is empty words but many people as I wrote in the emasculated American thread need strong words even when they come from the weak. The right in America has their leader as did China Russia Italy and Germany in the last century, actually Russia still has one.

Be back. Education link in sig,
