Republicans Admit DEFEAT

But far fewer things are applied to the deductible. All preventive procedures have very little or no out of pocket cost. If you're still getting employer based health insurance, then your problem is with the plan your boss chose.

Not all plans have high deductibles.

all that will change in October when employer plans go through the same thing we self-employed people had to go through last fall......

Yes, they do. Even the one that is supposed to be awesome does. At least when compared to the zero deductible I had in the past. Couple that with the massively increased premiums (truly massively, three times as much for the crappy plan, massively increased for the "low deductible" plan) and you have a family one medical disaster away from bankruptcy, ironically caused by the very program touted as the cure for medical bankruptcy.

The idea that this is "affordable" insurance is flat laughable.
Gross misrepresentation of the facts. You're going to go bankrupt from having to meet your deductible? What's the deductible?

If you had a zero ded. plan in the past, that was offered by your employer, why don't you ask said employer why they opted for such a crappy plan now? Or was that decades ago?

Do you still have employer based insurance? It also matter which state you live in.

Why don't you give us a list of your oop for preventive services?

There are 3 pages of covered procedures here

uh, no.....they give free health care to those who earn more than $11,400.....if they earn less than $11,400 they have to pay for it........I know you don't understand.....but that's not my fault....
you have to earn more than app. $11k/year to qualify for Medicaid? I think you might be wrong about that

are you kidding?.....yes.....we did.....and we still do......the only question they still ask when you sign up for insurance is your age.....and it is a fact that a couple I know who are 50 and have no children, are paying $400 a month less that I am for the exact same Preferred Silver Plan that I have from Humana......
I said 'proportionately'. If older people paid actual costs for care, as one does for auto insurance in the high risk pool, the premiums would be much higher. There are other factors as well. Pre existing conditions you/your wife may have. Cigarette use, etc.

The issue is cost sharing. For someone to claim that men are paying for pregnancy, or women are paying for Viagra, is moronic. Cost sharing is nothing new.

You pay the same amount for a prescription rider, whether you are on any meds, or not.

You have that backwards, btw. We who have been in the individual market for decades, now enjoy the same benefits that EBI plan members have been enjoying forever.

Gross misrepresentation of the facts. You're going to go bankrupt from having to meet your deductible? What's the deductible?
to give you an example, I had a BC/BS policy with a $5k deductible per person, $10k per family.....I received a notice of cancellation effective 12/31....I got a quote from BC/BS for a plan with an identical deductible for $938 premium, compared with $684, though with a higher co-pay.....I selected a plan from Humana instead......in January I received a bill from BC/BS for $708......I said "WTF" and called them.....they said they had automatically put me on a plan that was the closest in cost to what I had since I hadn't signed up with another plan with them.....I asked them what the plan was they gave me.....the terms, and premium, were close to what I had before, but the deductible was $27k....$10k for in patient and a separate $17k deductible for out patient.......copay was the same 10% I had before....

My Humana plan has a $3250 deductible and zero copay in network.....the premiums are $1134, but considering our average medical expenses we will save the difference every year with the zero copay and lower deductible.......BC/BS also had a similar plan but it was over $1200 a month.....as was Priority......

regarding the issue of age and premium, I would be interested in knowing what other folks who chose a Preferred Silver plan are being charged for a family of two......

what makes you say that?

do you recall when Obama gave employers an extra year before they had to comply?......that will be up in October.....when they have to comply you will go through the same things those of us who didn't get an extra year have just gone through.....

lol....you really have to be trying hard to ignore what I am saying......under the ACA you stop receiving the subsidy if your income goes below $11,400.....it has nothing to do with Medicaid.......

If that were the case, my wife wouldn't have been covered and I'd have never married. Neither of which was the case. I paid for the coverage because they were my kids and my family. If this were the actual reason for this then this is overkill and deliberately punishes all the people who have acted responsibly. Punishing people who do the right thing... always a good policy and probably one of the reasons why this program is so wildly popular.

None of the reasons this stuff was sold to us for has come to fruition, nor was it ever the goal. We may as well say "We the Mushrooms"... We're kept in the dark and fed sh*t.

Tell me... how many of these indestructible morons who don't pay have suddenly picked up this insurance? Then tell me how many of those who signed up are supplemented by those same aforementioned responsible people. The people who most get the whip and have to pull this buggy are the dwindling middle class, people who have done the right thing.... Obama has come up with yet another program to make them less than they were.

And high priced auto insurance is due to a few bad apples spoiling it for everyone.

Funny how no one ever saw you lamenting the "buggy" the middle class were forced to pull when it was the insurance companies giving the people the "whip" in the form of the double digit price increases policy holders had to deal with every year.

Cry me a river...you're upset because this is a victory for Obama and that just infuriates you.

BTW - I am glad that preventative medicine has been prepaid in my massively increased premiums. Having to continue to pay for stuff like that on top of the huge premiums would piss me off even more.

I'm already ticked enough about this huge deductible business that I've never had in any insurance I've ever used. I've always had good insurance, because I applied for jobs at companies that had good coverage on purpose.

They're going to price me out of health care though.... The deductible is massive.

That is some serious butt hurt you got going on there...

Fortunately the salve for your sore buttocks is going to be covered in the cost of your insurance.
