Republicans Are Apparently Claiming Foley Promised Not to Do it Again!!

Some posters on other boards are claiming that Foley promised the Republican Leadership that he wouldn't do it again and there is a story floating now that says they kept the whole thing quiet for the sake of the victim's family.

If the Republicans keep spinning it, pretty soon the story will be so upside down it will come out that Foley himself was pursued by these over active 16 year olds and he was just talking dirty with them on IM to keep them at bay. I can't wait until the first victim steps forward whose pants Foley shoved his hands down. That story (October Surprise?????) should really push the Republican spin cycle into overdrive

Yeah, look we know he was a pedophile but he said he'd never do it again...

Isn't it the Republicans who have continued to pound on the fact that these people are so sick that they can't be cured and so should never get out of prison and isn't it Republicans who have said that when these incurable pedophiles get out of prison they should be forced to register their addresses so that everyone knows where they are for the rest of their lives because they can't be cured of this disease??????

But yet when rumors swirl around one of their own, they do a quick cover-up (their ass) investigation and they take the perpetrator's word that he won't do it again...

Back to that first rule of ethics in a Republican controlled Congress: If a Republican does it it is OK!!!!!
 
looks pretty sad foor the R party , the funny thing is many voters will never even know this story exsists

Too bad they did not give President Clinton that chance when he had a consentual encounter with an adult woman!

Doesn't Foley have to stay on the ballot?

It'll be interesting to see how many of his GOP constituents still choose to pull the lever for him, rather than the Democratic challenger or a third party. And, it will speak volumes about his GOP constituents if Foley still gets more than 5 or 10% of the vote.
 
Good point Cypress, that will be very interesting. Just how dumb are republicans in his district ? We will find out.

Yeah, he stays on the ballot all right, and if he wins the Party or some group in the Party gets to pick his replacement. Some have said it's the governor but it seems to me like I heard it is another group not a single person. Anyway he stays and it will be itelling to see how many voted he gets. I would like to form a group called "Pedophiles for Foley" and just start running ads with the IM on it, with a voice over saying, "Don't be afraid or embarrassed. Step right up! Pull the lever for the Pedophile!!!!" And then say, "On November 2, Vote Foley!!!!!!" See how many people figure out what you are saying.

Well, 35% of voters in Spokane Washington voted to keep that GOP Mayor, who admitted to cruising the internet for young boys, in a recall election.

I'm taking a wild ass guess, that most of those 35% were his republican constituency.

Once I wrote it down I thought the same thing. I think it would probably get noticed pretty fast and create quite a stir. It's the kind of a thing that could either ruin someone's reputation or give them one.

I think you are all under estimating their bases loyalty to the empire. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the last 33% that still support the repugs are ride or die supporters. Short of Bush or a republican eating a white baby on live television, they will support them till the end.

Correct.. and their would be 33% of Dems that would do the same on behalf of the Democrat Party... its called party politics...there are hacks and loyalists till the end as demonstrated in these forums and on this particular thread. Lets not pretend as if it isnt so ....

I disagree whole heartedly.
Can you provide an example of a point in time where democrats have in one presidency:

1) outed CIA operative
2) gotten us into a quagmire of epic proportions costing us $Bs
3) turned a surplus into a deficit
4) Let a "reporter"/internet prostitute into the white house with a press pass
5) Destabilized an entire country and subsequently proceed nation build
6) Let and supported overtly crooked lobbyists
7) alienated the international community
8) Institute legislation that is in direct opposition to our constitution
9) Support torture
10) allow pediphiles to remain on a ticket to keep a seat

and still maintained a solid 33% of vote. I beg to differ. Liberals are not of the same mindset as conservatives and had the shoe been on the other foot, I think you'd see a substantial decrease in support. For example, immediately following 9/11 Bush had 90% of our support. The dems and liberals are definitely capable of putting partisanship aside for the greater good.

Since you brought him up.. because I wouldnt want to be acused of "changing the story" or "reverting the attention towards Clinton"

This is the type of crap that slays me... You use the word "Adult Women" and "consentual encounter" as if the behavior was perfectly acceptable and normal in a work place environment between an elected Official of the Highest Order and a subordinate. In any other industry or work place environment this type of behavioor would be grounds for dismissal .. why should the President be any different? If it were discovered that a High School Principal was getting blow jobs in his office from a Student Teacher... while on duty... would this be considered a casual affair and would it be deemed appropriate? Most likely not and in most cases and depending how much public exposure it recieved...the High School Principal would lose his job.

Fact... Clinton abused his power by allowing this type of behavior to take place...
Fact... Anyone else would have been immediately dismissed including the Intern ...( who in my opinion was more of a victim of power than anything else.., especially considering that she was only 20 years old at the time). Lets face it, this was not a love affair. A President using his power and position to gain sexual favors from a Subordinate should be expected to step down from the position. Clinton used Monica as a Prostitute.

Great, protect your friends as long as they "promise to NOT do it again." I also heard that the Dems have known of this since last November. Great, they allow Foley to continue to victimize and save the bombshell for election time.

Now, now, Cypress. Foey has always been non-commital when asked if he was gay. Shame on you for suggesting that the R's not vote for a gay guy!
 
At least the Democratic party did not keep it under wraps for 9 months. At least Monica Lewinski was a grown adult.

I hope Hastert is prosecuted for failure to report child abuse!
