Retirement: A third have less than $1,000 put away

Meaning that even though your bankbook may show $1010, it only has the purchasing power of $994.

Your $1000 increased in value by 1% during the year in interest, but decreased in value by 1.6% due to inflation.

Cawacko clarified his post. You can stop explaining basic math to me now.

Where would you see those who earn on the lower end of the income scale and aren't the most financially sophisticated putting their savings?

Why are we focusing only on minimum wage earners? I mean, I understand the point that minimum wage earners likely would not save all that much with a raise because they probably would have to use those additional earnings for basic needs, but low interest rates on savings is an entirely separate issue.

poor people are sympathetic to the plight of others.

SOME who get their egos all inflated about earning money learn to Puff themselves UP by stepping on the heads of others

It's actually not a fact - you're confused about what a "fact" is, as usual.

It's your opinion, based on direct observation, which is in turn based on your limited experience.

you lied about it being fact huh.

Its an observed FACT

I also observed it in my life.

You didn't

why?

for the same reason you though that post was directed at you personally.

For this question I wasn't thinking minimum wage earners. I was thinking someone who earns $30K - $50K/yr. I was curious what other options you had in mind, other than savings accounts, for someone in that $30-$50k range that isn't going to get eaten up by low interest rates.

This is a fascinating admission from a Liberal who supports an ideology that thinks stealing the wealth of its citizens is he answer to all societies ills.

stealing?

your a fucking liar

if you don't like how this country operates and has operated for 100s of years then fucking get out traitor

[h=1]The Politics of Giving[/h] The nation's sharp political divide can provide a clue to fundraisers: The eight states whose residents gave the biggest share of discretionary income to charity voted for John McCain in the last presidential contest while the seven lowest-ranking states supported Barack Obama.

Why in the market of course... via those 401k's he mocks. Or perhaps he thinks they will do better in the market on their own?
