RNC chair: candidates must sign loyalty pledge if they want to join 2024 debates

The loyalty pledge is just what Trump needs to back out of the debates. I will be shocked if Trump signs a loyalty pledge. He’s talked about running 3rd party.

He will switch to an "I" when he loses the nomination, splitting the GOP vote and will take the party down. trump doesn't care about the GOP, trump only cares about trump.

I don't think he will run as an independent because he knows he can't win. Now, he probably has more support than any other single Republican candidate.

You think trump will win the GOP nomination?

Probably not. Most Republicans don't want him as the nominee but he has the most support at this point.

Trump: 43%
DeSantis: 28%
Others: 7% or below each

It is too early to predict. Trump will continue to lose support as more Republicans talk about the future and want to drop the election fraud issue. Candidates who are far ahead at this point (Hillary over Obama and Bush in 2016) don't always retain that lead. If Trump is not doing well in early primaries some of his supporters will switch to DeSantis. I don't think anybody other than DeSantis or Trump has a chance unless some new, charismatic person comes along.

Assuming he's not in prison by then, that would be a gift from the gods to this nation if he does.

Asking elementary schoolers to take the "Pledge of Allegiance" that they don't even understand is also a bad idea, but nobody has the balls to say it.

Sure they do. Religious groups have won Supreme Court cases to exempt them from saying the pledge (without punishment). Or, paying SS taxes, putting tape over "Live Free or Die" slogan on the NH license plate, attending school past 16........

While the polls vary on that issue, the overall trend is away from Trump.

On the Republican side, support is fragmented among nearly a dozen possible 2024 candidates, with DeSantis registering a 10-point gain since last August and Trump falling by nine points. DeSantis now leads the former president among GOP voters by 37% to 29%. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley trails at 7%.

The latest Fox News poll of Republican voters still have Trump, but the convention is still 17 months away.
