Russia's Implosion

My Russian acquaintance is a programmer who works on high-end financial analysis software systems. Before this year, I saw his rhetoric as a kind of "sour grapes" -- his family had left Russia in disgust, and he had the same kind of hate for Putin as you see among Cuban exiles when Castro is brought up. But, I see now it was more than sour grapes. His view of Putin is very much in line with the utterly self-destructive incompetence we've seen from the man this year.

Results count. The Russian Army is getting it's ass kicked by the Ukrainians. So much so that Putin has threatened to use nukes and chemical weapons on civilians.

Putin sent in his first stringers and the Ukrainians slaughtered them. Now Putin is sending in his second and third stringers expecting a different result. That, by itself, is nuts. The fact Putin has now been persuaded to withdraw back to the separatists regions is a good move, but it's too little, too late. The Ukrainians are too pissed off to settle for giving up land for peace.

The best way this ends for world peace, the global economy and regional stability is for Putin to be completely removed from the picture and the Russian leaders who take over to completely withdraw from Ukraine.

Since Trump may be the least intelligent major politician in American history, that's fitting.

It's important to hear independent voices from Russia, including what's left of independent Russian language media as well as educated Russian citizens like your colleague.

The vast majority of MAGA posters will either rely on American rightwing media personalities, or Kremlin state media if they are pro-Putin for information about Russia.

NATO expansion was already "on Russia's border" WTF do you think he was talking about "redlines"
And Ukraine was already a MAP member of NATO -and defacto NATO state

The op is childish propaganda. While it's true the Kyiv putsch failed -it was because of JAVELIN
not some glorious Ukraine superfighters. You can criticize Putin for not understanding that
but this (aside from Syria) was the first real use of them in war

Look at Donbas - artillery vs. artillery and Ukraine has every bit as good, and may be more
but Russia is slowly pulverizing gains. maybe when more advanced rockets get their it might change

If you dont understand war weapons you dont understand war and write junk like this
and if you dont understand we want this war to continue to "degrade" Russian military you are naive

lol.no it's sour grapes. Putin took over from Yelrtsin -we installed Yeltsin to be a western stooge
and he happily complied.

Russia is fine.
Russia is part of the Sino-Russian partnership and we forced it to be like this
Nixon was smart enough to triangulate against the USSR by diplomacy with China.

That worked well for a long time. Beginning with NATO expansion and mindless sanctions we needlessly and to our strategic failure united Russian and China in military matters

Its bigger than that....Iran turned against the West long ago, and it sure looks like both Pakistan and India are now as well.

If so then the West has already lost.

Once the dollar falls we are cooked.

Pakistan has always been a lost cause, the TTP Taliban flood across the border from North Waziristan
doomed the ANAF

India wants protection from Chinese military and border wars (Kashmir) etc.
but prying them away from China's soft power is a tall order

Iran is back pumping oil after Biden the Idiot decised he wants a nuke deal that events have already overtaken

The really bad part is the blossoming relation between Saudi Arabia and Russia,
following the same path of Egypt after Obama put those dumb sanctions on Morsi

I get a lot of shit for saying it but it is the truth....China is going to win....there is almost no doubt about it now.

America's future looks exceptionally bleak.

.....we have one that is destroying our economy too

As a reminder, even after adjusting for inflation, last year saw the strongest economic growth in almost four decades. Then, after the economy taking a bit of a breather in first quarter of this year, it appears to have returned to growing in the second quarter (the Blue Chip Consensus and the Atlanta Fed's calculation both suggest positive growth). Real GDP per capita is now higher than in any quarter in American history other than Q4 2021. By comparison, Russia is shrinking, economically, at a pace that is putting it back where it was 15 years ago, at least. There's really no comparison.

.... he's allowed his own country to become flattened and occupied.

He hasn't allowed it, which is why Putin Propagandists like you hate him. He was supposed to see the tanks coming and flee into exile, so that Putin could set up a puppet government and turn Ukraine into a satellite state. Instead, he stayed home and inspired fierce resistance, which stopped the Russian drive to Kyiv, and humliated Putin and his paper-tiger army. For those employed by that moron, Putin, Zelensky's success created an imperative to attack him constantly, in hopes that it would distract from the impotent blundering of their dear leader.

Yes. I hope that the oligarchs and generals realize things are going to suck for them until Putin is out of power, and so they see to it that someone gives him a nice serving of Novichok with his morning tea.

Yeltsin was installed by the Russian people because he was a centerpiece for the resistance to the Soviet hardline backlash, and thus he helped the country emerge from Soviet domination.

It's a matter of time, maybe less than a year. In the end, even Hitler's own generals tried to assassinate him in Operation Valkyrie. I expect a similar plan for Putin unless he finds an exist plan himself to forestall a more permanent removal from office.

You've simply stated ' he allowed his country to become flattened and occupied ' in NATO terms.
