Tom, this is just what drives women bat shit crazy about this issue. Though the cases of gender inequities against men in society do exist, and no they are not right, the instances are so few and isolated compared to the instances of gender inequties against women in a culture that is still overwhelming dominated by men politically that they do pale by comparison. I do agree with you that there are current issues, such as rape laws and child custody laws where a man may be currently playing against a stacked deck and I agree that it's neither fair nor right but that's a speck of dust compared to the gross inequeties women have had to and still do deal with.

It's like saying male rape should recieve the same level of attention female rape does as they are both reprehensible acts of violence, which they are. However, male rape victims are minute in number compared to female rape victims which means the issue isn't as significant politically.

My point being is that it just drives women nuts when men fail to consider this. It's no surprize to me that it royally pisses them off.

I am sorry now, that I did not report him. He later abused his wife to the point she had to be hospitalized. He is now one year sober, I have heard.

I thought twice about telling my story, I did once on another message board. It was cathartic. I don't think some men realize just how far we have come and what the price has been. I think by my speaking up, I hope, that some become less cavalier in their thinking about feminism and remark that ugly radicals hurt the mission. It was these loud mouth radicals that brought change and date rape and even rape by your spouse is now prosecuted. It is unfortunate that there are still women who feel it is their fault nd feel shme for what was done to them.

I hope we continue to progress in the area of women's issues, we have come a long way, but still have a long way to go.

Mott, injustice is injustice and it cannot be justified by saying that only a few happen in comparison to other crimes. For a start, I do not consider false rape charges to be necessarily insignificant as you assert, I would say that if you are going to send somebody away for several years then you need to be sure that a crime has been committed especially when you know how they will be treated in prison. I know somebody who was wrongly accused and I assure that you wouldn't want to go through the same torture he endured.

You're not listening to me Tom. I'm not justifying anything. I agree with you wrong is wrong. I'm just trying to explain the mechanics of why this has happened. I'm not making any value judgments here for or against third wave feminism. I'm just trying to explain why this is happening.
