School Closures Due To COVID Outbreaks

Second South Mississippi School Closes - Stone High closes doors for 2 weeks due to COVID outbreak

"Another South Mississippi school is closing its doors for two weeks due to an outbreak of COVID-19.

Stone High School announced early Wednesday afternoon that it would be closing early and will remain closed through Aug. 26.

During that time, students will transition to virtual classes and log on each day from 7:50am to 2:50pm for live instruction. Attendance will be taken daily, and grab-and-go meals for breakfast and lunch will be provided. All other schools will remain on their normal schedule."

Stone high. Poor choice of names along with Ridgemont Faber and Slutview high.

I'd be happy if my boy's elementary school gave us a virtual option. He goes to a charter school in an affluent area
and we had to spend 1.2 million to get him in here, but we didn't do that just to have him contract covid by irresponsible
decisions made simply because parents are weary of being safe.

Lock down everything and cordon off and embargo all states with less than 50% vaccination rates.

Don't you worry, red states, we will leave food and money at your border, as always.

ARIZONA: The Ash Fork School District shut down earlier in August due to “many staff members across the District being affected by COVID,” according to an announcement by Superintendent Seth Staples on YouTube.

Ware County Public Schools has shut down completely for the next two weeks, and will not offer virtual instruction due to “a sharp increase in the number of active positive COVID cases reported among students and staff members as well as the number of individuals who are currently quarantined,” the district said on its website. Classes there won’t resume until at least Sept. 7.

Burke County Public Schools, which reported 40 new student cases of COVID, has also shut down for the next two weeks.

Randolph County School System in Georgia has gone virtual until at least Aug. 23 after several students tested positive for COVID, Superintendent Tangela Madge announced on the district’s website.

“Parents, it is imperative that you assist us during this most difficult time,” Madge wrote in another post. “No matter how much we ensure that our campuses are safe, what students do outside the school environment makes the most impact. How we control the spread INSIDE the district depends on how well parents, students, and community members control the spread OUTSIDE the district.”

The Macon County School System, a three-building district in Georgia, will be fully virtual from Aug. 16 to Aug. 27. The district has also reinstated a mask mandate for all students and staff.

Talbot County Schools, another small district, has also gone virtual after a student tested positive for COVID on Aug. 4, according to its website. Students there are expected to return to in-person learning on Aug. 16.

Hello Micawber,

A lot of parents would be happy if more concern for school safety were being shown.

INDIANA: “The high rate of positive cases and the extremely high rate of student in quarantine” has forced Scott County School District 1 to shift to virtual learning until at least Aug. 23, the district announced on its Facebook page.

“This will be a tough year and we don’t want to have to shut down this early, but if we can determine who is positive now we believe we can stay in school longer,” Wasson wrote.

Magoffin County Schools will be closed through Aug. 29, the district announced.

Great thread. We told you so, but you refused to listen. I remember being mocked in mid July for suggesting that another massive Covid wave was coming. Guess what? Yep, we have been right about every single thing. The anti-vax anti-mask cult has been wrong about every single thing. It's sad. People are dying. And now where is the focus of the cult? More worship of Donald Trump, audits and symposiums and rallies that are the laughing stock of every serious person, and bashing Biden over an Afghan policy that was initiated by his predecessor.

We are going to lose kids. The cult does not seem to care. We are going to lose thousands more people needlessly. The cult does not seem to care. But if Biden stutters, the right wing echo chamber explodes. That's their priority. I see no point in engaging that.

Hello Concart,

Thanks.

It's tragic.

I heard all the goofball statements by Trump supporters before the 2016 election and I thought, wow, are they ever in for a big surprise. After that election I wondered when they would run from Trump after they found out he was full of BS. Never happened.

Now we see how strong the brainwashing has been.

People dying needlessly, even children, don't move them.

Trump tapped into decades of hate-peddling by Fox Propaganda Channel.

They will now sacrifice friends, family, neighbors to 'own the libs.'

Even their own children. Pretty sick.

And all of this so BS pundits can get rich?

Is the money really worth that much to them?

Man, that's messed up.

OKLAHOMA: Hulbert Public Schools shut down a high school and middle school until Aug. 19 because about 25% of the students are now in quarantine, the district said on Facebook.

SOUTH CAROLINA: The School District of Pickens County has shifted to virtual learning until Aug. 20 “due to the unexpected spread of COVID-19 in our schools,” administrators announced.

TEXAS: Gorman ISD, near Abeline, has delayed the first day of school until Aug. 25 due to COVID cases among students and staff. “I am disappointed that we will not be able to see our students for another week, but I do believe that this is the safest course of action to take,” Superintendent Mike Winter said in a message to the district.

Iraan-Sheffield ISD has shut down completely until Aug. 30 and is not currently planning any virtual instruction, Superintendent Tracy Canter has announced.

Bloomburg ISD in Texas has completely shut down because of high numbers of infected staff and will not even offer remote instruction. The district will use a state-provided COVID allocation so the missed days won’t have to be made up.

Yes, it is messed up beyond anything I could have imagined. And while I really admire your attempts at engaging these folks, my point of view is that no matter how nice I try to be to a cancer, the cancer will kill me. So instead, I'll do everything I can to eradicate it by any means necessary. I don't see another way out of this other than marginalizing the cult until it can no longer do any harm. Attrition, Covid, the diversifying of the population... all of these things mitigate. But we need to do much more, and I for one am no longer interested in following the Marcus of Queensbury rules. They don't do much good when your opponent wants to kick you in the nuts.

Other than my family's bout with Covid because of these people (and the accompanying ER bill), I am not nearly as affected by all of this as many others are. I am well off, and I am white. I want for nothing. But what's happening in this country frustrates me, angers me, and pains me at a really personal level. I thought we were better than this. It's really hard to find out that people you considered friends are at their very core just bad people full of hatred and bile. I can sail off into the sunset, enjoy my retirement and call it a day. I can, but I won't. This is too important.

did you seriously believe that you were going to garner their cooperation and unity after the way you berated them over the last 5 years???????

the more you marginalize people, the more you hate them, the harder you make their lives, you should expect some serious blowback.

If their insane cult leader had simply sent the right message none of this would be happening.
There is nobody to blame but Trump, knowing how fucking hateful deluded and stupid they are.

He could have made masking and vaccines a patriotic MAGA jingoistic act, but no, he had to use public health as a wedge issue.
He could have had Nascar and country music and Fox singing the praises of vaccines as stopping , hell if I know, ...communist menace or something.
The dumbasses would have eaten it up. But they'd rather die than do what liberals say needs doing for us all to beat a global pandemic.
