SCOTUS opinion leaked: Roe v Wade

Calling women who've had more than one abortion "indolent fat ignorant pigs" is exactly why I said you're being dismissive, not to mention rude. You don't know why anybody has more than one abortion, but you're putting the worst possible spin on it. The second could be from rape, incest, severe genetic deformity, fear of their partner, loss of income, danger to mother's health... any number of reasons. You say you're pro-choice but you sound like the archconservatives here.

Yes a tiny fraction may be as you say but the vast majority will be not be.

Oh ok, you've known me 20 years and now you're calling me a liar. Isn't it strange that the rate of abortions for black women in England is similar to the US. Whilst only representing 2% of the population they have around 7% of all abortions. That's despite contraception being free on the NHS, so why is that then you might ask?

Exactly how many abortions per year do you personally deem acceptable? Also, what is your criteria for having one, stated in no uncertain terms? Inquiring minds would like to know.

can you READ? i was criticized those with MULTIPLE abortions..
after one you would think lackadaisical behaviors would change or even go get the morning after pill

Yes, I can read....that's why I asked what numbers you have in mind?
Ya see sweetpea, for starters you have to parse out the stats for folk having "multiple" abortions. Then you might have a look into why (your bigoted generalizations are no substitute for researched facts). Get back to us when you have the numbers and explanations from objective, reputable sources and not the usual pro-life pundits. In the meantime, the gentleman that offered the idea of mandatory vasectomy that can be reversed when one is mature and financially stable would END the need for abortions better than the current offerings.

Ok, maybe "indolent fat ignorant pigs" is a tad harsh.

The Effect of Maternal Obesity on the Offspring
Christine B. Williams, Kusaynyonon C. Mackenzie, and Sheila Gahagan

Additional article information

Abstract
Maternal obesity is inextricably linked to adverse health outcomes for the mother and her children. The peripartum period is a critical period of risk. In this chapter, we examine the importance of maternal pre-pregnancy weight status, gestational weight gain, breastfeeding, and postpartum weight loss in relation to subsequent risk for maternal obesity and obesity in the offspring. Promoting optimal maternal weight during the preconception, pregnancy and postpartum periods will provide lifelong benefits for maternal health and the health of her progeny.

You're dealing a POS National Front mindset, kid. About as willfully ignorant and insipidly stubborn bigotry and hate as it is with our MAGA minions....they don't think much beyond their own noses. This clown seems to have a hard on for America....probably sees kindred spirits with our resident right wing wonks and flunkies.

I never called you a liar!! I agreed that some women had more than one abortion. Where we disagree is the reason, you say they're indolent and ignorant, I say we can't possibly know the reason. The whole argument in the US re: R v W is about taking back a woman's right to the private management of her reproductive system, not which race/religion/nationality has the most abortions.

All we're doing is going in circles. You're talking about women having a lot of abortions even though contraception is free through the NHS. I say why aren't more men availing themselves of the free contraception? My entire argument boils down to saying that contraception is 50-50 no matter who uses what.

Never ever have I suggested that men shouldn't be responsible.

Written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by POLITICO.

The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” he writes in the document, labeled as the “Opinion of the Court.” “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

Deliberations on controversial cases have in the past been fluid. Justices can and sometimes do change their votes as draft opinions circulate and major decisions can be subject to multiple drafts and vote-trading, sometimes until just days before a decision is unveiled. The court’s holding will not be final until it is published, likely in the next two months.

No draft decision in the modern history of the court has been disclosed publicly while a case was still pending

POLITICO received a copy of the draft opinion from a person familiar with the court’s proceedings in the Mississippi case along with other details supporting the authenticity of the document. The draft opinion runs 98 pages, including a 31-page appendix of historical state abortion laws. The document is replete with citations to previous court decisions, books and other authorities, and includes 118 footnotes. The appearances and timing of this draft are consistent with court practice.

The disclosure of Alito’s draft majority opinion – a severe breach of Supreme Court secrecy and tradition around its deliberations – comes as all sides in the abortion debate are girding for the ruling. Speculation about the looming decision has been intense since the December oral arguments indicated a majority was inclined to support the Mississippi law.

Under longstanding court procedures, justices hold preliminary votes on cases shortly after argument and assign a member of the majority to write a draft of the court’s opinion. The draft is often amended in consultation with other justices, and in some cases the justices change their votes altogether, creating the possibility that the current alignment on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization could change.

The chief justice typically assigns majority opinions when he is in the majority. When he is not, that decision is typically made by the most senior justice in the majority.

As a result of this outrage at attacking reproductive rights of women and advocating against abortions as a result of rape, incest and physical limitations against carrying a full-term pregnancy, apparently repukes have opened the door for SCOTUS to be expanded in a effort to dilute their seditious hold on SCOTUS. This as a result of rendering SCOTUS as a tRump poisoned atrocity of incompetency and hostility on democracy and the rights of women.

If it wasn't for Deep Throat, the nation would never had known of Nixon's treachery.

If it wasn't for the Pentagon Papers, the bogus war in Vietnam would have lasted longer

So now the nation is made aware of the SCOTUS majority stance on the issue of legal abortion, so plans can be made to fight it and circumnavigate it to prevent more unwanted kids put on an already overwhelmed foster care and adoption system ... much less prevent amateur abortions and such.

And the band played on.

the decision was meant for a June release -just what are you gaining by releasing it in May

A heads up to the nation as to where the SCOTUS majority heads are at. As I said, the people have time so plans can be made to fight it and circumnavigate it to prevent more unwanted kids put on an already overwhelmed foster care and adoption system ... much less prevent amateur abortions and such.
