SCOTUS protects marriage equality

Your mockery indicates low IQ.

Your IQ is too low to comprehend.
I'm thinking it's more about him being cray-cray than low IQ like other MAGAts on JPP.

The differences below are why SCOTUS ruled that banning marriage for gay couples violated the 14th Amendment Equal Protection clause.

Google AI: difference between marriage and civil union
The primary difference between marriage and civil unions lies in federal recognition and portability. While both offer legal protections at the state level, only marriage is recognized by the U.S. federal government, granting access to over 1,000 federal benefits and protections. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

💍 Marriage
Marriage is a legal and social union recognized in all 50 states and by the federal government. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

  • Federal Benefits: Access to Social Security survivor benefits, joint federal tax filing, and immigration sponsorship.
  • Portability: Automatically recognized in every state and most countries worldwide.
  • Healthcare: Guaranteed "next-of-kin" status for hospital visits and medical decisions nationwide.
  • Divorce: Standardized legal process for dissolving the union in any state. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

📜 Civil Union
A civil union is a state-level legal relationship that provides some, but not all, of the protections of marriage. [1, 2, 3]

  • Limited Recognition: Created primarily before the 2015 Supreme Court ruling (Obergefell v. Hodges) as an alternative for same-sex couples.
  • State-Only Benefits: Grants state-level rights like inheritance, state tax filing, and medical proxy within that specific state.
  • No Federal Rights: Partners are considered "single" for federal taxes, Social Security, and FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) benefits.
  • Portability Issues: If you move to a state that does not recognize civil unions, your legal status and protections may vanish. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

MAGAts is not a word, Sybil. Cray-cray is not a word either.

The 14th amendment does not discuss or define marriage, Sybil.

So a civil union is not a marriage. Why should it have the same benefits?

Yes, the above is just bullshit.

... as opposed to... ??

Bogus position assignment.
As opposed to nothing.

No one concedes to you the power to set definitions for words, and your definitions are meaningless.

If i suddenly say 'people are not married unless they eat ice cream as a couple each and every night', no person needs to take my definition any more serious than yours.

They are both made up utterance of words with no meaning.

So marriage is just a made up word and no definition of it can be taken seriously?

You're nuts, Q-tip...

Yes, supremacy.

People who call themselves "gays" and "lesbians" ARE fighting for supremacy. That's the foundation of the LGBTQLMNOPALPHABETSOUP+ movement. "You can't say anything bad about us because we are a 'protected class' of people and you're not". "You have to accept our perversions as 'marriage' because we are a 'protected class' of people and you're not". :blah:

They aren't being denied anything. Nobody (other than themselves) is telling them that they cannot get married. Any so-called "inability to marry" (or to receive the benefits/disadvantages thereof) is of their own choosing.

Its funny, when the haters and bigots are no longer allowed to go out beating up queers, they claim they are fighting for sumpremacy.

Yes, they ARE being denied something (or were). They could not marry the person they loved. Our gov't has no need to regulate personal relationships for people. (other than age limits and consent)

She didn't deny anyone marriage. Those people CHOSE to enter a civil union rather than a marriage. But yes, I understand that the LGBTQLMNOPALPHABETSOUP+ movement's thirst for supremacy requires them to commandeer the word 'marriage' and to try forcing everyone else to recognize civil unions as marriages.

If someone enters a civil union, and someone asks if they are married, should they say "No, we are civilly unioned?

Yes, it is a marriage. And FYI, marriage is not necessarily a religious institution.

Marriage is about the (in principle) ability to procreate.
That's what makes the union between a man and a woman (marriage) different than the union between a man and a man or a woman and a woman.

No, it is not.

Having children is not limited to married couples.

And many same sex couples procreate. They have to involve another person (or at least some of their cells). But when straights couples do the same, you somehow feel it is blessed.

Not the two together who entered the civil union, which is why it is a civili union and not a marriage, because marriage is about procreation.

How long does the newly married couple have to procreate before their marriage is dissolved?

No, it is not about procreation. Nothing in the typical marriage vows mentions children. There are plenty of married couples without children. Should they be forced to divorce?
