Seattle is dying

Do you have any evidence people are actually doing that in the streets in large numbers?
.
No, not large numbers. It's not like there's a mass poop in, and the majority aren't doing a big circle jerk you're ok with it. But I did see it. It didn't seem to cause any special reaction to the freaks that were there at the time. I guess as long as a few behave that way you're ok with it. Cultural diversity.

Well there are always going to be a few people who break the law. I don't think one guy pooping in the street means the whole city has poor living conditions. Now if you can prove this is an ongoing problem in one of those cities, that would be a different story.

The real problem is the cities rightys point out as failing are actually booming. They have so many people moving in and working that the rents skyrocketed and the costs of living there climbed. But low paid workers cannot afford to keep up with the prices. The answer is to pay a much higher wage for the lower workers. That will happen because that work also has to be done.
No the answer is not to have all the people move to BFE because one guy did it. That is stupid. The work in Seattle still needs to be done.

these cities already have a $15/hr minimum wage. As has been stated you can make it $30/hr and it won’t matter when you don’t build enough housing. Artificially inflating wages doesn’t change the lack of supply. But folks like you Nordberg fight development then complain about high prices because you don’t understand the drivers of the crisis.

We have a lot of young, transient, seasonal workers at Alyeska Resort. The resort provides low cost housing for it's workers. Most room together.

Meth, Crack, and heroin are drugs that will addict you on the first time you try them.

It don't matter whether you are a Democrat or a Republican!

Those of you that are trying to politicize the problem and blame the problem on Democrats are as disgraceful as the people out there hooked on drugs!

I'll just say that hate is also addictive and you can let it ruin the quality of a happy life just as quick as drugs can.

I don't know how to cure society's hate or drug problems- as they are a couple of things that I have had enough sense to just stay away from. Nor have I ever been a police officer or drug addict, so, I certainly am no expert regarding either subject.

I'll also say this, that if your city is to a point that that many drug addicts are finding access to that many drugs, your police may be corrupt. You can't have that much drugs in your town unless some high up police officials are not profiting in some way from the drug dealers in the way of payoffs.

So therefore, I'd start right there- Find the corruption in the police department, OR YOU WILL SURELY NEVER RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND IT WILL ONLY GROW AND GROW.

What happens to a once thriving city after extreme liberalism gets a stranglehold over it.
Portland has been this way for at least two decades (when I first saw it).
San Francisco's there, San Diego went to shit, L.A. has always been a cesspool.
Our mayor and city council are hell bent on turning Anchorage into one, we're well on our way.

Note to cawacko: It's obvious Redmond has done a good job increasing it's housing density. Lots of commercial shops on the ground floor with apartments or condos above.

What is artificial about raising rates? Elevating rates make it possible for people to bu=y housing. Does that escape you?

If wages raise organically then that's great. Government raising the minimum wage works well for people who 1) keep their jobs and 2) keep their same number of hours but what happens when you raise the minimum wage is it costs low wage jobs, the people you are purporting to help. Businesses also compensate by reducing workers hours.

Clearly you aren't understanding the problem here that when you don't expand supply and build more housing you can't house all the people there. Raising the amount of money people earn doesn't change that fundamental fact. And you're talking about buying housing. Dude, do you know how much real estate costs in Seattle (or the other major urban West Coast cities)? No one is buying real estate that makes minimum wage or anywhere close to it. We are talking about renting here. One bedroom apartments cost $3K/mnth. Raising the minimum wage isn't going to allow someone to afford that.
