Should an act of expression be a crime?

blahblahI still don't want him to winblahblah.....

actually, I see him as perfectly attuned to American values........he thinks that burning the American flag is wrong.......

I think it's wrong also but I don't conflate wrong with should be punished by the government.

I love that nobody is willing to defend Trumps position!

You will defend his perceived motives. You will attack the messenger, but you won't defend the substance.

Do you not understand difference between government and private enterprise doing it

You think it matters so much as to who is undermining our freedom of speech, business or government .... condoning is consent....

If you condone it for one the you condone for all....unless you're a total hypocrite.....
and
just as an aside....

for those morons that keep whining that we should rule by direct majority and not by representative democracy....

A CNN poll in June 2006 found that 56% of Americans supported a flag desecration amendment to the Constitution...good thing that "majority rules" democracy didn't have its way then, huh.

/shrugs.......nobody does......has Trump proposed any such legislation?.......he has a right to say that he thinks people stupid enough to burn flags should lose their citizenship........

why do you oppose the freedom of speech?.....

I think the government is legally prohibited from doing it based on the First Amendment. I think private individuals have a right to do for the most part what they want on their own property or with their own businesses.

If someone is injured or someone else's property is damaged, that is a crime and is actionable. Protesting and speaking out, no matter how upset it makes you and no matter how often I do it, is my right.

Do you have the right to block traffic and therefore disrupt commerce?

Do you have the right to block traffic and therefore disrupt commerce?

Blocking traffic? No. You see the act of blocking traffic, materially affects people in a negative way, not just some emotional way. The rights of travelers would outweigh the right to free speech.

The problem becomes prohibiting specific ideas, if you would otherwise be allowed to burn things.... then you your right to burn a flag is specifically constitutionally protected.

Should Americans be prosecuted for expressing unhappiness with an American policy? The Nation, the people, the government, the Country?

I am very uncomfortable when a person with power starts suggesting this. Thank God for checks and balances but they are not foolproof.

Do any Trump supporters feel uncomfortable with Trump suggesting that people lose Citizenship or be put in jail for political dissent?
Yawn @ hypocrite...............
Donald Trump came under heavy criticism Tuesday after calling for the criminalization of burning the American flag, with critics gasping that the president-elect’s words represent a threat to the First Amendment. However, Trump’s suggestions are similar to a bill pushed in the Senate in 2005 that would criminalize flag burning – a bill that was co-sponsored by then-Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Then you support renters that refuse to rent to Blacks or Muslims or Gays....
And bakers that refuse to bake a cake for a gay wedding or a Catholic wedding or a Jewish wedding....etc....

Thats no different than firing or refusing the do business with people for their political views.... its discrimination plain and simple.

BAC sig so many liberals, especially you.....
Cognitive Dissonance is a powerful mindfuck. It transfixes it's host with the terror of inconvenient truth .. the brain becomes motionless .. and all avenues to critical thought are blocked.
