So I hear Muhammad likes 9-year olds

I hate to remind everybody about this, ... but;

"While the general age of consent is now set between 16 and 18 in all U.S. states, the age of consent has widely varied across the country in the past. In 1880, the age of consent was set at 10 or 12 in most states, with the exception of Delaware where it was 7.[2] The ages of consent were raised across the U.S. during the late 19th century and the early 20th century.[3][4] By 1920 ages of consent generally rose to 16–18 and small adjustments to these laws occurred after 1920. The final state to raise its age of general consent was Hawaii, which changed it from 14 to 16 in 2001.[5]"

Did all our righteous Christian friends here follow that? 10 or 12 years of age. (7 in Delaware)

Welcome back Jack.

to followers of Mohammed?.....
Nope. You’re talking of a time where marriages were arranged by parents and their children were around 9-14 when the marriage were arranged. This was particularly true in the upper classes where marriages were also often political alliances.

These children still lived with their parents and didn’t consummate their marriages till an appropriate age.

Young people choosing their own mates by romantic attachment is relatively new in human history, particularly in the West.

So back then "thighing" a 9 year old was OK?

You want to go off down that road go for it. It has nothing to do with that for most of human history most marriages were arranged by parents when the betrothed were minors.

You paved the road when you stated "didn’t consummate their marriages till an appropriate age." History shows otherwise. There are even writings of his contemporaries making excuses for it.

No there aren't any writings by the contemporaries ... Most hadiths came out of Persia more than 200 years after Muhammed.

Something the Bible expressly forbids. Those priests are NOT Christians. Islam, on the other hand, encourages such behavior.

That is an easily proven lie. On the other hand, until recently many States in America allowed 11 year olds to marry with parental approval. That was the "christian" way.

BTW, Mohammed did not marry the 9 year old. He did cite her as his intended, and married her when she became of age.

Aisha was born before the Call. .. so she was 17 at a minimum.

Ok, I am not sure where you are getting that from but I think you're confusing Aisha with Fatima. She was as born five years before the Call and was about five years older than Aisha. Hence she was around ten when betrothed.

The Isaba, speaking of the Prophet’s daughter Fatima, says that she was born five years before the Call and was about five years older than Aisha. This shows that Aisha must have been about ten years at the time of her betrothal to the Prophet, and not six years as she is generally supposed to be. This is further borne out by the fact that Aisha herself is reported to have stated that when the chapter [of the Holy Quran] entitled The Moon, the fifty-fourth chapter, was revealed, she was a girl playing about and remembered certain verses then revealed. Now the fifty-fourth chapter was undoubtedly revealed before the sixth year of the Call. All these considerations point to but one conclusion, viz., that Aisha could not have been less than ten years of age at the time of her nikah, which was virtually only a betrothal.

I think you are confusing Fatima for Asma.

“She was the sister of Aisha Siddiqa, wife of the Holy Prophet, and was ten years older than her. … In 73 A.H. … Asma died at the age of one hundred years.” [6]

This would make Asma 28 years of age in 1 A.H., the year of the Hijra, thus making Aisha 18 years old in 1 A.H. So Aisha would be 19 years old at the time of the consummation of her marriage, and 14 or 15 years old at the time of her nikah. It would place her year of birth at four or five years before the Call.

Why don't you show evidence of the last time an 11 year old was able to marry with parental consent in the U.S.

Massachusetts allows females to marry at age 12 with parental consent. That must be the left wing way.

And the source of the writings? Oral tradition.

Interesting how kuntzu has no problem automatically accepting the writings of those that never met Muhammed but questions those of the people writing about Jesus although they never met Him.
