Social security, a landmark liberal achievement

I am a boomer. In order to pay for the SS coming our way, they raised the percentage we paid in. To help you out, that means we paid for our own SS. A 3 trillion dollar pot was built to go through that demographic.
You of course had trouble following a simple post. The bankers, if they were running SS would pay themselves mega millions for running it. They would loot the system because that is who they are.
There is no theft. You are as usual flat out wrong.

to be fair, unless you die early, you WILL take more out of SS than you put in.......you may have forgotten the payroll withholdings you started with were based on those whopping $15,000 annual salaries we all had back in the 70s.......and its not like the SS fund was earning anything other than IOUs from congressmen paid by tax payers and more congressional IOUs that still remain to be paid......

Are you retired??? What about your Parents???? Just think someday you will be retired, if not already and you will benefit from SS.

Assuming his parents are 1) still alive, and 2) retired, he should be happy they have SS. Imagine if they weren't able to save much for retirement, and had to come live with him? lol

Can you live on $25,000 to $48,000 a year before taxes?
Neither FDR or the government were in the business of insuring SS will give you an extravagant retirement.

SS attractive source of supplemental retirement income for those who have pensions and savings.

SS removes a lot of risk from retirement decisions.

SS prevents those who don't have savings from falling into destitution.

Some landmark...

BTW, I am old enough to get social security. A third goes to investment, a third goes to beer, and a third goes to pay the taxes on the other two thirds...

What's really nice is that I do all of my side work on 1099's so it doesn't count as getting a paycheck with social security...

You can thank FDR for your very attractive source of supplemental retirement income.

You are sneaking around and cheating on taxes for no valid reason. You're supposed to be able to legally work and continue to earn as much as you want if you took SS at the full retirement age.

It’s interesting to see when state retirement pensions started.

First was Germany in 1889 (Bismarck was trying to undercut the Social Democrats).

Then the UK in 1909 (goodbye to the ‘poor house’).

The US followed in 1935.

About half the world’s population still doesn’t have access to a state pension. Some don’t even have universal healthcare.

That's right. I'm fine with that. Employers would have the option of offering supplemental insurance if they wanted.

Only problem with that scenario is that it gives power to the employEE and takes power away from the employER. That's bad for business when employers can't just count on employees being STUCK at that job because it has benefits.

Allowing employees to freely move around without fear of losing healthcare coverage would be a disaster as it might drive up wages and with a living wage too many Americans who don't deserve it will start thinking of themselves as equals in the marketplace. That's bad for American capitalism.

I feel that I have already pointed out the benefits of SS, but if you're too thick to understand anything, then it's a waste of my time.

so you actually think every single person gets more out than they pay in - and still have the audacity to say other people are too thick

JFC dude - you are just dumb. I feel sorry for that level of dumb

Maybe, you ought to be concern about your own limited intelligence, rather then worrying about other people's intelligence.

You seem to have a problem with my claim that some people don't benefit. Maybe you can try to back up your claims instead of acting like a retarded junior high kid on a playground

a single adult male dies at 59 - explain how he benefits from social security contributions
