I have a crazy idea. How about, instead of "staying the course" by doing absolutely nothing, we try something new? Making firearms legal and easy to obtain may not be the smartest thing in a country where 30% of the population voted Trump and thinks that global warming is a lie. The truth is that America is full of trigger-happy dumbasses, and maybe doing the same thing over and over isn't going to magically start working.

Trained cops were afraid to enter the building. You think a teacher wants to play hero? Your average person will hesitate to shoot an active shooter because they fear getting shot back.

Maybe if you try to teach kids what we were taught, the guns taken to schools would
only be used after school for legal hunting. It's kids shooting kids in schools, isn't it?

Most of us who voted for Trump are responsible gun owners who pose no threat to innocent Americans.
We do, however, pose a threat to anyone who tries to outlaw, or especially confiscate our guns. Any of our guns.

The only reason a knowledgeable gun carrying "average person" would hesitate to shoot a perp is if there was another innocent person behind the shooter.
The "golden rules" are know your target, your own capability and especially what's behind the target. Common sense, actually.

Have you ever actually shot at someone? Because there are studies showing that most people, including police, would hesitate. I know you have cowboy hero fantasies about yourself, but unless you've actually done it, you won't know for sure how you'll react and to claim otherwise is talking out of your ass.

Nope. Everything I shoot at is considered a target, nothing more, or nothing less. That includes paper or everything I hunt.
The only people who will hesitate are those who see a living creature in their sights.
