We have lots of Foxglove along the back fences of homes in The South. Their seed pods were used as packing material for stuff from China back in the late 1800's. Folks would unpack the boxes then dump the packaging in the compost heap out back...
Spring garden in full swing. Expecting 100 deg in june so all spring lettuce and spinach has about a month left, some of my spinach has already bolted. We've been eating out of this garden since feb and we're on our third planting of 3 kinds of lettuce and spinach, many radishes and a couple edible flowers-Nasturtiums. June, july and august is our winter so we're going to compost like crazy during the hot months and make some nice dirt. Gonna try to save my pepper plants this summer by covering them with a sun screen and hope for the best. Sept thru the winter is our real garden season and this is the first time we've grown in this location so the soil wasn't as good as it's going to be after we compost a ton or 2. might try some tobacco next winter and cure it in the shed when it gets hot.
